Re: New Ideas for Mickey's Toontown

^ Thanks, I'm not sure if I understood all that. I'll look at it again later.

Good news everybody, Slyvester the Jester replied to my messege and said if Disney paid well, if they don't change his character's look, and he had a good stage to perform on, he'd love to perform at Disneyland

Re: New Ideas for Mickey's Toontown

I was just at Tokyo Disneysea, they have a sort of live cartoon stage show. It's called "Donald's Boatbuilders" in the American Waterfront. You have to buy food in order to get in to see the show. Like in the cartoon short "Mickey's Boatbuilders", Mickey and Goofy help Donald build a boat so Donald can give boat tours. It pretty much follows what happens in the short. Unfortunately, the boat named "Daisy" has a few problems and is not sea-worthy. Donald and the gang walk off stage depressed. This is the end of part 1 of the show and a short cartoon montage is shown on video screens above the guests. The tv screens are disguised as hanging boxes. In part 2, Donald dives off the "Daisy" into the water while Chip n Dale come but disappointed to see the ship has no boat tours. So they fish off the boat anyways, catching Donald in the process- much like in a cartoon . Chip n Dale decide to help build the boat- but with their usual antics in which they decorate it with their chipmunk personality. Donald gets mad and tells them to fix it right. Donald chases after the 2 but is caught again in the fishing line and caught in a fish net set off by Chip n Dale. As the two run off, Donald chases after them off stage.

So that's basically what happens. Part 1 of the show happens every hour on the hour and lasts for 10-15 minutes. A short 5 minute intermission happens. Then part 2 lasts 10-15 minutes. Lastly a 30 minute intermission happens. Then they start all over again.

This would kinda be neat to have something like this at Disneyland's Toontown (House of Mouse or Ink & Paint Club perhaps) and/or somewhere in DCA. However I still like the "Slyvester the Jester" idea for Toontown. So maybe this type of show can be in a new restaurant inside that Chinese Cookie Factory that rarely opens.

Re: New Ideas for Mickey's Toontown

This idea was kinda inspired by kayoss as we were discussing about Pooh/CBJ.

Reuse the beehive vehicle for the Mickey Mouse darkride (re themed of course to probably what I previously proposed- Mickey, Donald, & Goofy themed cars), bring in Tokyo's Pooh's Huny Hunt to replace the current underwhelming Pooh darkride in Critter Country. That should save a few million, right?

Then MBC doesnt have to be a new 100 acre woods. Could be a revamp of MBC with Fantasia themeing (guests stay dry). Then the "Tugboat Donald" would have more intention of getting guests wet compared to being dry on MBC/Fantasia Garden.

I think it would be neat to have a House of Mouse.

I would kind of like to see a AA Pete; throwing fits there. *lol*

I keep thinking of a AA version.

Have a Mickey Mouse as host. Again, Pete to pester the House of Mouse for a little bit. Have Clarabelle telling gossip. *lol* That would be funny.

But for Goofy as the waiter would be the ???? with that one.

Re: New Ideas for Mickey's Toontown

This will probably be the most cost effective way to bring House of Mouse to Toontown: Just build it in the grassy/bushy area between Roger Rabbit, the trains, and Small World. I think it looks big enough and it'd be in the correct section of town: downtown. No work needs to be done in the outdoor Toontown dining areas. Just position trees, bushes, and other plants between House of Mouse & trains so it would look nicer.

    ^ Nevermind.

I think Philharmagic could be in Tokyo Disneyland's Toontown if they have room. Philarmagic rumored to replace Muppet*Vision, I'm warming up to. It'd be better if they'd theme it like the orchestra is recording music for movies to tie into Hollywood Pictures Backlot.

Re: New Ideas for Mickey's Toontown

personally, I would like to see new rides/shows in toontown... not ones re-hased from other theme parks. I think we all could agree that Disneyland (and each theme park) need NEW rides.
As much as Philarmagic is great...I want something new.

Filmfreak...I know that you think the fantasyland theater is beneficial and important, and I could not agree more. However, I feel that it is not being used to the best of it's ability right now with it's Princess Training Academy. A lot of space issues would be resolved if it was removed. Perhaps, with the removal of the fantasyland theater, big thunder ranch and the old skyway house (behind fantasyland) a new land could be developed with a stage that will provide theater shows and great live performances.

As for a mickey dark ride, I am greatly opposed. I do not think the main character of disneyland should have a ride based upon him. Simply for one fact, it will turn away from his popularity. A majority of people will begin to associate Mickey with his ride, not being the "face" of Disneyland and the Disney Company. I believe Mickey should NEVER have a ride based upon him. And if he were to, it better be the BEST ride in Disneyland. If not, then it's not saying much for the care he is getting from WDI.

I do think some of your ideas are good, however, we have to be realistic...there are other places in Disneyland that need more attention than Toontown. Perhaps someday it will be overhauled...and maybe some of your ideas will be incorporated.

I like your ideas for the area. I like that you are layering PhilarMagic and a food area. My suggestion would be to make the food area something really geared for fun and eating. I would love to see the same comic ideas that created the gag factory or the explosives area. I would love as a kid to buy food from something that I could interact with. Maybe machines that looked like some giant toon experiment or gag area. I think it could serve nomal food, but make it fun to order and receive the food. I see big buttons for the kids to push to select food. I see steam, lights, bells and whistles happening before the food is delivered on a tray. Make it s restaurant that is more fun than McDonalds for them. Make a memory for them to carry back from their stay in Disneyland.

Re: New Ideas for Mickey's Toontown

notlemc, I have to admit you have a good point.

I still think Mickey's House could be a darkride taking the Pooh ride tech though. Maybe something like what another said: Toontown Limo. Kinda like Superstar Limo...

I think the difference between a Mickey Mouse dark ride and Minnie, Chip n Dale, Donald, and Goofy having their own attraction is that the Mickey Mouse darkride would have a stronger story and more effects compared to the others... Not exactly blending in, but has more thought put in to it. I don't know if that made any sense to anyone.

But Toontown definately needs a darkride in the corner of the land.

Re: New Ideas for Mickey's Toontown

I voted neutral on it, just doesn't strike me as anything I'd want to visit more than once as an adult (with or without kids). I feel the same about both threads where Toontowns are being pitched. I agree with the fact that MOST of it should be taken out and replaced, but I'm not thrilled with the replacements that have been purposed as of late. Like I said, I voted neutral, because you obvisously have the ball rolling, but like you have been doing I think some ideas need to be altered or changed completely for it appeal to all ages and groups as well as the target audience, children.

    7) The rest of Chip n Dale's treehouse will be destroyed and a new pathway made to go into Frontierland.
This would be a very long uneven walk lol not to mention they'd probably have to move around the stables and livestock directly behind it... a lot of the ideas are great, but unless they totally rebuilt Mickey's house, there is no way they would be able to have a dark ride there as is.. it would require a track to run the whole way through, and it's fair share of emergency exits. Not to mention Toontown backstage is a very cramped. It may look spacious on the outside, but don't let the green topped hills fool you.

Don't get me wrong though... I'm all for revamping the land of Toons. Maybe we can start with taking out the blow horn at Donalds boat and rethinking the costumes

Re: New Ideas for Mickey's Toontown

Actually, instead of the Mickey Mouse darkride idea, why not a Superstar Limo tour through the classic Disney Afternoon shows lineup (in Uncle Scrooge's limo)?? Because why would you want to drive through Mickey and friends houses? You can already visit them. Why drive through Downtown Toontown? You can drive through at Roger Rabbit's. But driving by (Ducktales) Duckburg, (Darkwing Duck) St. Canard, and (Tale Spin) Cape Suzette. That'd be so cool.

I can see why some people would have issues with a Mickey Mouse darkride. With Duckburg, St. Canard, and Cape Suzette, it stays with the 2D classic animation medium and still fits with the rest of Toontown. Maybe the 3 cities can be in "Toontown County"

OH, maybe have a consistent storyline. Like chase after the bad guys! Beagle Boys, Sinister Six(?), and Don Karnage's Air pirates! Ah man, so excited
