BTW-there was recently someone on Ebay selling these exact same slides. They had in their description that their Grandfather previously owned a shop at the Disneyland Hotel. They had several sets of these slides available. The problem is, they are still in their original packaging. If you were to take them out of their wrapper, it would most likely reduce the value of them. I would bet they have more of these for sale.

One more thing-Costco can do prints from slides and it is fairly cheap.

An FM station, KNOB, broadcast from the old Anaheim Hyatt House on Harbor Boulevard on the other side of the park, also in the late 60's.

Great radio memories for a kid growing up in Orange County.

Does the letter say whom they thought Jack should sell the hotel to? Disney or someone else? I don't know if Walt Disney had more cash on hand by 1957, but I'm guessing he still couldn't have bought the hotel.

No it does not. It only strongly suggests to get rid of this investment. I think Walt wanted to give his friend Jack Wrather some time with the Hotel so he could make some money. At that time, the Disneyland Hotel was almost by itself as far as hotels in the area. I saw room rental statistics and it was almost booked 100% for months at a time. The letter says it is only a matter of time before many more hotels and motels would be built and the time was right to sell. Plus, Jack Wrather (at this time) had a partner in the Hotel-Helen Alvarez with whom he was having almost daily litigations/arguments with. The two started having business related problems almost from day one. Miss Alvarez eventually accepted a settlement in 1958 and Wrather took over the Hotel solely. Some of the most rare Disneyland Hotel items have the words Wrather-Alvarez Hotels, Inc. on them. Sorry to ramble.

Found this great picture of the marina on another, non-Disney, site:

Wow these are great shots. I have some construction shots of the waterfalls in front of the Bonita Tower taken by Bonita Granville herself. I will be posting some wonderful old Hotel pictures soon. Man do I miss the original Disneyland Hotel.

Shortly, I am going to post some of the shots of the Disneyland Hotel that did not make it into the book.
