Rockin' Space Mountain officially announced, coming Spring 2007

    http://www.micechat.com/forums/showthread.php?t=27949

    Disneyland Resort in California

-- Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage -- Inspired by Disney -- Pixar's "Finding Nemo," this all-new E-ticket adventure will take guests on a real (and unbelievable) underwater excursion. (Summer 2007)

-- Rockin' Space Mountain -- Space Mountain is getting a new twist. Thanks to new lighting and technology, Disney's classic attraction will become a new experience in which rockets will rock it through the greatest concert in the universe. An all-new soundtrack will fit the exciting twists and turns of Disney's rocket classic. (Spring 2007)
Also note, DCA has nothing listed for getting new things in 2007.....

    hmmm

the only thing that cocerns me is that there is no mention of this being a "nighttime" only transformation...

would rockin' space mountain be a permanent change, open all hours of each day???

i sure as heck hope not

Yeah...the lack of "nightime only" in that release puzzles me too...though notice how few words the whole thing has.

Would it matter if it was night time only since it is dark in there anyway?

What type of music would they have? Old rock, new rock, Disney friendly rock?

"night time only" would mean that we'd still have our choice of an actual simulated space rocket adventure... or Don Kirshner's Rock Concert.

    Say it ain't so.

the press release definetly looks that way...but that'd be one HORRIBLE move.

Urgh... it's going to be horrible if they change Space Mountain like that. What's the point of having it be SPACE Mountain if it's going to be about a concert?

Re: Rockin' Space Mountain officially announced, coming Spring 2007

I doubt this will be a all-hours transformation. Maybe it will be for the first couple months of it's debut, but I'm guessing that this little teaser is just that - a little teaser and we'll be getting more information regarding "Rockin' Space Mountain" soon enough.

Don't forget they're referring to it as "Rockin' Space Mountain" here - which is clearly NOT it's name. I mean, they spent the money on the marquee with "Rock it" on it - I don't think they're going to let that go to waste by changing the name.

I think this is just a teaser announcement until they get the real deal ironed out.

It's interesting that the randomization of Tower of Terror isn't mentioned... Hmm... Is that not going to happen anymore? I don't understand why it wouldn't. From what I understand, it's just a matter of flipping a switch at Tower to get the random drops taken care of, right? Weren't they pre-programmed before the attraction even opened?

^^ I agree that it is strange that the Tower of Terror randomization is not mentioned. I think that is more exciting than Rock-it Mountain.

I also don't get this whole idea that BOTH West and East have to have the same promotion. WDW is going to celebrate Epcot's 25th anniversary. Why not promote that? Then Disneyland is getting the Subs back. That alone is something to celebrate. (I wish that they could get the Peoplemover working, but that is another topic.)

I see problems with the whole sleep-over in the castle. What if a family of four wins it. Which kid get to sleep there? A kid is not going to want to sleep there alone. And if the parents are included, is everyone going to sleep in one bed? It just does not seem to be well thought through.

I guess I feel like this whole thing is a marketing ploy and not really something to get excited about for families. I so wish that people would learn some things about how Walt Disney promoted things. He could promote his new rides and really made you excited about them. (If you doubt watch the "Disneyland After Dark" DVD and see how a master salesperson does it!!)

There are some run throughs on youtube. Great, Disneyland brings you Hoobastank Mountain. Sad...More proof someone won't be happy until they've completley ruined what ever is left of Tomorrowland

"It's a small world," rockin' style!

As long as there are lots of laser effects and loud music I'll probably be happy. I don't think they'll make it a permament change, especially since Space Mountain already loved by all and since the original plans were for it to switch back and forth. I think it'll be fun and plan to keep an open mind until I actually see it.
