Its a small world... its a third world?

Is it me or has the quality of its a small world really gone down the tubes? That ride is in MAJOR need of a referb. The carpets coming up at different parts of the ride, the color is starting to fade REALLY bad. Yeah Walt would have NEVER let it get that bad.

it could use some work yes. Though it is such a huge ride, it would take quite some time to refurb. Maybe after the holiday overlay is taken down, it will stay down for an extended refurb.

yes, it does need a refurb badly! It is like floating through a hardware store, all it is is plywood! with all the new effects they have they could put fake rock in the background to hide the walls and ceiling, make REAL rain instead of streams hanging from the ceiling, with all the new technology that ride makes it seem as if we are in the 70's or 80's. half of the dolls don't work. all the wood is covered in dust, the ride is WAY to slow. there is a lot they could do with this ride...

Re: Its a small world... its a third world?

I would like to see updates, with implicating features of other it's a small worlds

    Example
Tokyo has water throughout, no flume, but entire show building. While it would be costly and change the ride and disrupt emergency procedures, seeing the lights, cords, and sticks can be a distraction and detraction from the ride

Paris has cloud shapes that are both practical and decorative, it gives it a "less warehouse" feeling and holds lighting and cords.

The posters of the different lands are kind of strange because they don't flow with every country, I wouldn't mind seeing them go

    Better painting of the flumes

New boats, that would be decorative

However, everything can't be done, it's just my suggestions

I'd like to see a instead of a gift shop a recreation of the Tower of the Four Winds, some mention of Walt Disney's commitment to the world, the original UN purpose or whatever. Or flags of the world?

I think it's terrible that you go through the entire ride and not ONCE do they say

It DID used to look wonderful, right? Sometimes I think maybe seeing it from an adult perspective, it just isn't as great, but it was my grandmother's favorite ride, so I don't know. It just looks shabby.

even in the 'new' one in WDW streamers are still done for rain.. and the walls and ceilings are still just painted black

IDK, It looks the same as it always as to me, but I don't ride it alot to notice every minute detail about the ride.

DL's exterior is still nicer than WDW's exterior IMHO. At least it was on my last visit to DL and I've been to WDW since their IASW was rehabbed.

And I just don't understand the "WDW vs. DL" thingy that is so prevalent in online Disney communities. Sometimes I feel like I'm in the minority that appreciates both resorts for what they offer. Some things DL does better, some things WDW does better...and one of these days I'll make to DLP, TDL, and HKDL and see what they do best.

Just remember without a well written Disney Villain, there would be no point in the Heroes and the Princesses. Have you hugged a Disney Villain today?

HAHA! I was thinking the same thing.

No seriously though that is too bad Disneyland's is looking sad (if it is). WDW's still looks excellent, nothing is as nice as IASW after a full rebuild when every little thing works.
