    New Nemo Submarine Test Effects

Feel free to skip this entire post if you're one of the ones that feel there is "much ado about nothing" when it comes to the Nemo subs.

As you can see in the picture below, there's a new area that has been brightly painted with the new glass paint effects. The imagineers have even added in fake sea grass or seaweed, as part of the test.

I took this picture at maximum zoom, because it looked to me like they were also testing an animatronic figure, like a crab, but upon closer inspection, I'm not so sure. I think you're just looking at different colored rock here.

I'd like to see this underwater, just to see how it would look with the full effect.

I can't wait to see the Subs, as I've never been.

    Thanks for the pic!
Took mom to Disneyland for the first time in over 20 years this week! Woo!

The figures are currently being worked on and they should be installed around January, so I don't know where you saw this crab.

Re: New Nemo Submarine Test Effects

Let's see if I remember this right....
Water actually filters (actually deflects) red light. So sea water seems to be
(when you're underwater) blue. So the greens will look "bluer" and the
    yellow "greener".

Hm. I don't remember Finding Nemo *that* well, but I think they have the colors
about right. (That orange, though, will look "browner"). Also the water's not that
deep (only five feet or so at the porthole level?) so the filtering isn't that strong
at that point. Will be interesting to see how it turns out.

    Thanks for the pic, Frogberto!

Does anyone think they'll ever cover the whole lagoon to do more building/designing that they don't want people to see??

There are swarms of people that haven't experienced the subs before. You are in for a real treat, as this new version will be superior to the old in all respects. The former attraction was top notch for it's day. That's wgy the coming ride is a definite tribute!

It would be too massive an effort to attempt to go all secretive again...leastwise externally. The outside area had a tall barrier around it, bur was never covered. There was little that DL could do to prevent people from seeing inside, short of shutting down the monorail and matterhorn. Sometime this year or early next, it should be exciting to watch the instalation of external figures, and to see the lagoon filled with water again.

I can see what you are referring to. It's that adobe-colored thing on the painted rock, right? To me it looks like one of the workers got silly and decided to put a toy of theirs on the rock. It looks like a mini action figure or something.

Ahh, the Moody Blues. Now there was talent and how fitting for this discussion on colors and how they appear to be. Fantastic!

Aren't they going to be closing down that Monorail station to redo the queue to Nemo and the Monorail? If so then we won't get all of these pictures that we have now.

Not necessarily. You can still get pictures through the holes in the wall at the Autopia exit, or from the Matterhorn, or even over the wall if you're tall enough to lift a camera up and shoot pics.
