    Disneyland Imagineer Contest TV show

I have watched all these contests on TV to become Top Chef or the Apprentice or Top something. What do you think if Disney ran a contest to find a Disneyland Imagineer? There are so many Imagineer want-to-be's out there. I think they could run it on ABC. Each week contestants would have challenges to create or design something, a new ride, or store or restaurant. The contestants would have to come up with the idea and partially execute it. Then someone would have to be eliminated each week. The winning contestant would get a job with Disney Imagineering.

    So what do you think?

I believe it would cheapen the very concept of being an Imagineer.

It's about artistry and craftsmanship at the very least, not about game show antics which are close to be the very least.

I don't see anything wrong with the college level contest that Imagineering already runs.

If it's an oppertunity for some really talented people out there, then it sounds good.

What would make it tacky is the useless drama they shove into those shows, with abolute snobs and brats. That I wouldn't like seeing. I'd like to see real encouragement and constructive criticism that Walt would approve of.

I agree. A show where they'd want you to sabotage someone else's ideas and back stab people to move forward doesn't sound like...a...nice thing...
...well I suppose you could argue it'd be consistant with parts of life though...hmm...no...still wouldn't watch it.

That's a retarded idea. Imagineer is the most sought after position for anyone in the art and design field. It's already a highly competitive occupation.

I love the idea. I'd watch it.

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...

Out of curiosity, within the constraints of any realistic TV/reality show, how would you handle the "execute part of the idea" part?

Only if Gordon Ramsey was there to yell at, and shoot down, the idea of every potential imagineer.

And only if we get a minimum of three catchphrases from the series, such as:

    "You're fired!"
    "I'm not your bitch, bitch!"
    "You're a snake ... sssssssss!"

    How about model building?

If you're going to build a model of a ride, why not skip a step, and just call the show:

Re: Disneyland Imagineer Contest TV show

The other problem, of course, is how to the mechanical engineers compete with the artists? Or would they be separate categories?

Bit too tame for what we would be doing. After all, ABC heralded in American Inventor, a show that allowed the contestants money to improve prototypes and allowed the finalists to film a commercial and such.

Now a TV/reality show COVERING the Imagineering contest that has already been established would be neat...
