July 4th Crowds at DL

Hi Everyone,

We're heading out to DLR on July 3 for our first trip. We're planning to do a day at DCA on July 4th because we've heard that the crowds at DL on July 4th are huge.

Is it possible that it possible that DL will close due to capacity on that day? We're planning on heading back over to DL at 10 pm when DCA closes, but we're wondering if we'll be able to get in.

My first trip to Disneyland back in the 1970's was the Forth of July. IT WAS PACKED. I don't expect it to be any better. Just plan on it being crowded and work accordingly.

Go Early to the gate, and hour or more if possible before opening.
Line up at the security awning super early in the morning, and you can still do Disneyland in the morning. Leave when it gets crazy. We are going to be there the next day!
Be the first in the park, and you can still do it.

yeah, the 4th is not a good day to go if you dont like crowds.

I happen to love crowds because I can people watch and it is fun!

I think it's very likely that Disneyland WILL close for capacity at some point during that day. However, they usually do so as needed from 11am to 5pm, the heaviest crowds of the day, so I doubt at 10pm it will be closed for you. Many families with young children leave after the 7pm parade, and watch fireworks (which are at 9:25 p.m., by the way, so you'll miss them if you're staying in DCA until 10pm) from their hotel room or just save it for the next day. If they do close for capacity, it's usually a few hours, not the entire day.

Also, there WILL be long lines for you going from California Adventure back to Disneyland at 10pm. They have fewer gates open at that time, usually, and lots of people have your same idea. You can save yourself some time if you can leave at 8:30 or 9pm and get into Disneyland to see fireworks (I"d recommend seeing them from "It's a Small World").

Since the 4th is on a Tuesday this year, I don't think it'll be bad as when it's on a weekend. Crowded, but I'd actually be surprised if they restricted admission at all during the day.

I have a So Cal Passport and am blocked on that date. Do they sell passholder $30 tickets that day? I was just thinking how fun it would be there that day. I know it is crowded, but the fireworks make up for it.

You can get the discounted ticket as a passholder on any of your blocked dates as far as I know. You can always call if you want to double check. The number is on the back of your pass.
