Smile When World's Collide --- seeing the "man behind the curtain"

There are three parts of Disneyland that get me everytime. I was wondering if other readers have had similar expereinces....

Disneyland goes to amazing lengths to create a whole new world... but then misses something obvious.

Here are my three...

1. The roof of It's A Small World is obviously and ridulously similar to any drop roof in any school, store or office. Why can't they hide that!

2. After you pass the great Ship at the bottom of Splash mountain, you look up and see the blank painted "guts" of some kind of machinery. This is worse when you are cued up to make your exit.

3. Near the end of the Jungle Cruise... look to the right and see a huge mental ramp with an industrial looking building.

And one for the road...

Could it be that Paradise Pier is Paradise Lost because of the height of the rides, you see everything outside of the park. You lose your focus that you are at Disneyland. What would toon Town be without their backdrop or even the large painting at the end of the road near the Hyperion theatre??

Where do you see "behind the curtain"?

A mental ramp occurs later in life, usually called a mental slide......

Wait, how do you get to see the top of It's a Small World? I don't think I've ever been on the roof or seen it...

Also, at the end of Small World when you exit the "Good bye Card scene", when you turn around you can see the Speed-rail holding up the "cards" and the motors working them.

The roofs in Pirates and Mansion are harder to see though.

Re: When World's Collide --- seeing the "man behind the curtain"

So buildings are not supposed to have interior ceilings? The original poster said "roof", which refers to the EXTERIOR, so now I'm really confused.

Re: When World's Collide --- seeing the "man behind the curtain"

actually, on most of IASW, you see wires, lights, exit signs, etc.

however, Walt approved IASW in DL, so who am I to argue with the Master?

It still distracts from the show. If IASW was not originally made for the World's Fair, would it have had all those things. I personally am distracted by the wires, the unthemed ceiling, the poorly hidden floor under the track, ect. IASW need to find a way to hide these things better.

I get it now, and I see what you mean. I think the show building interior could use a lot of coverup, yes.
