Selling and Smoking Cigarettes inside the Parks (merged threads)

I don't smoke, but the subject of tobacco usage was raised in the thread about offering wine at the Blue Bayou.

I was wondering if anyone who does smoke finds it inconvenient that Disneyland no longer keeps cigarettes under the counters of the shops.

Disney is 95% smoke free, so why?
Plus times have changed. More knowlege on smoking.
I doubt Disney wants to dip into the debate of health issues.
Imagine the complaints at City Hall. I know I'd be one of the first to say something.

Disney still sells cigarettes at the shops inside the hotels, and a significant percentage of the American population, as well as the rest of the world is addicted to nicotine. So, how is the sale of cigarettes inside the parks affecting a non-smoker, such as yourself?

Smokers can still bring in Cigarettes from outside and plan accordingly, whereas people cannot (officially) bring in outside drinks (including alcohol). It is just not neccecarry for Disneyland to sell them.

I would not support Disneyland selling them again. I personally cannot stand the smell of smoke. But I respect smokers in the park as long as they do it in the designated areas.

The question, though, is what business is it of yours if Disney makes cigarettes available in the park shops again and if smokers buy said cigarettes and use the designated areas as directed?

The policy is logically inconsistent, and it embodies poor customer service.

Why do I have a feeling "I want to buy smokes inside the parks." isn't that high on the list of complaints?

Well, look at it this way: Walt Disney smoked.

And then he died from it. So...yeah, buying cigarettes in honor of his cancerous death? Why not...

Can you imagine what the cost of those cigarettes would be?

Re: Selling Cigarettes under the Counters inside the Parks Again

I agree with lazyboy, buying cigarettes in the park just probably isn't a big concern since there's a select number of places to smoke and someone can just bring a pack with them if they're really that interested.

To be honest, I really miss the smoke smell at Disneyland from the pre-1990's. It was always a part of the park for me, kind of like the musty smell of Pirates. It went away shortly after the ban on smoking and I kind of miss it. I love a good cigar so to me when I smell 2nd hand smoke from a cigarette, it kind of reminds me of a cheap cigar which in turn reminds me of a nice one so I don't mind the smell of smoke that much. It's interesting, being "addicted" (not physically of course) to cigars and not cigarettes is like being addicted to hard liquor and not beer. It seems like it's the same thing, but it's totally different.

Isn't it the same as the issue of whether or not to sell gum inside the park? I don't see anyone fighting to have gum sold in the parks either...

Selling cigarettes in Disneyland would be in HORRIBLY bad taste as smoking killed Walt Disney.

Why should Disney contribute to the unhealthy habits of some. The only reason they still have a smoking area is to accomodate those who are addicted to nicotine.
Selling cigs in the Park will only contribute to something that Disney would probably rather not deal with anyways... smokers fouling up the air that everyone breathes at a family park.
And I smoked for about 30 years, so I'm qualified to say something about it!
