I was saddest that it lost its "Pirate's Smell," you know that moldy greasy cavern smell. It smells like walking into the lumber section of Lowes to me mixed with the chlorine smell already there, with only a hint of the old smell once in a while.
It's that new cave smell... I'm sure the old "Pirate's Smell" will eventually come back...
Overall I was pleased with the rehab on pirates. I did find the orignal treasure chest from the first film in the ride. The effect the blew me away was the davey jones effect. When all of you see it, it blow you away. When you ride pirates again ask for the first row. Trust me on this.
Went on it twice! My friends and I were all in our pirate gear!!! It was GLORIOUS!!! I bought the grey "Pirate Princes" hoodie, my friend had the "Dead Men Tell No Tales" hoodie, my other friend was wearing the Pirates Jersey With Jack Sparrow 76 on the back... we all had hats and swords!!! We dressed for the occasion!
They threw someone out for taking a picture with a cell phone... they had this locked up good... seriously. I was asked to show my ID like, 7 times! HAHAHA! (Well, everyone else was too, not just me.)
The only thing I'll say is, The Jack Sparrow Animatronics looks so lifelike, and the way they move is so fluid... It's INSANE how real they are!
It was a good night. Did Pirates twice, and Rocket Mountain twice... yep... good times.
Guys, come on, chill out. Let's not get these CMs fired just because we want to know just days before the ride opens what's going on Frogberto taking a picture of an open door is one thing. A job on the line is another, IMO.
I'm glad to hear all this positive feedback! I had a great feeling in my gut that this was going to be for the better ^_^ I'm taking a group of 9 with me to Disneyland on the 26th, and I'm going to be right at the front of the gate, ready to barrel through. Teehee. I will definitely ask for the front...I figure it won't make things that difficult with such a large group anyway.
