So... the village is hiding Jack Sparrow... why?

    1. I love the updated version, that is to say, I love the video of the updated version.
    2. I don't want to give any ammo to those who just want to find negative in everything about this change.
    3. This isn't a complaint, I'm just wondering what you all think.

From the video I watched (and huge thanks to pveticket for it) It seems as if the pirates are under the impression that the town folk know where Jack Sparrow is. Is this town super friendly to Jack for some reason? Why would they be friendly to one pirate and not another?

    Just a bit of confusion.

hmmm... I like that explanation for some reason. It's his home town.

Probably as good an explanation as any.

don't ask so many questions! :P I assume that the pirates (or any villain) always assumes someone is hiding something. I presumed that they had no idea where Jack is, since he arrived in the town solo and peceeded to hide himself amongst the locals. Often, ignorance is the ammo for the antagonist's angst and in this case appears to be no exception.

or it was the only way to keep us "whiners" happy but add new things into the ride w/out changing all of it.

I don't know that they're hiding him...I just thought he was kinda taking sanctuary there...but you bring up a good point. Maybe he was going to share the treasure with them??

Well, if the rumour spreads that it is his hometown, then there will be many Fanfics popping up...-opens Microsoft Word-...what, I didn't say I was starting a fanfic or anything! -hides screen-
Er anyways, good theories! But AP2CM's explanation where they don't know anything would be more reasonable

Isn't that the town of Tortuga? It does seem to be a sort of sanctuary for Jack, at least it was in the film.

I guess I can't answer the question as I haven't been on the ride but it seems like Sparrow is just hiding and nobody really seems to know he's around and if they do they'd rather help a sweet talking guy like Sparrow than the rough and tumble Barbosa crew.

I think none of them actually know where he is, and the pirates think they do though. You know how villains cause you pain when there trying to get information you don't have, thinking you have it.

Then why, during the dunking scene, when the pirates are interrogating the townspeople does that spanish lady in the window yell "Don't tell him Carlos! Don't be chicken!" [Some of my favorite dialogue from the ride by the way. I'm glad they kept it.]

That's waht I was thinking. And that is the reason he is hiding in 2 of the 3 spots.

It's Johnny Depp, who wouldn't want to be super friendly to Johnny Depp?
