Question When Disneyland hits the big 100, what rides/attractions will be gone?

It's safe to say that when Disneyland reached the big 50, many rides/attractions have since been retired and/or have been replaced by something new.

What, in your opinion, will be gone by the next 100 years? Any rides or attractions that will soon have a gravestone in the Haunted Mansion?

What do you think will replace the newly vanished rides/attractions?

And what rides/attractions do you believe will survive another 50 years?

Winnie the Pooh, Innoventions, Honey I Shrunk the Audience and Disney's California Adventure could all be possibilities of attractions that wouldn't last. The Castle itself might end up having to be rebuilt or something to help the stability and the Jungle Cruise would probably have rebuilt figures as well. And the Haunted Mansion, Pirates and Small World would all get loops.

Re: When Disneyland hits the big 100, what rides/attractions will be gone?

Will be gone:
Pooh
Star Tours
Buzz
Astro-Orbiter (though it will probably exist in a new state)
Autopia (though it might be moved to DCA and updated)
Aladdin's Oasis
Matterhorn (ooh, did I say that? Hate to say so, but it WILL have to be almost completely rebuilt in order to still exist 50 years from now. Let's hope that's what they do because I *love* that ride!)
1/2 the Fantasyland dark rides (will probably be replaced with more technologically up-to-date C tickets, or at the least receive another major overhaul)
Storybookland Canal Boats/Casey Jr. Circus Train
Fantasyland Theatre
Gadget's Go-coaster, Jolly Trolley, and probably most of Toontown other than Roger Rabbit and Mickey's House, to be replaced with better stuff.

DCA: Oh dear, if I had my way most of the park would be different. Rather, I'll say what might stay:
Screamin'
Soarin' (but that's a risk, Soarin' could go the way of the dodo if Star Tours does, but Soarin's younger so it might last... may need a new film though as California changes with it - lest it be the next Circlevision.)
HTH
Grizzly

No, I'm not including Monsters. It's a great attraction, but not so much of a fixture in that area that it couldn't find itself on the chopping block in a few decades.

Re: When Disneyland hits the big 100, what rides/attractions will be gone?

When you think about
Most will prob. stay.
After all
Most of the yesterland rides are gone because they were in tomorrowland and tomorrowland will always be updated
Some rides left due to safety concerns (such as the skybuckets)
And some have just gotten refurb's
And Mickey Mouse club I just think left because it wasn't the hip thing after a certain point (I think).
Some Frontierland rides were gone because they just weren't enjoyable...like mule rides or Stagecoaches.

So when you look at what has stayed and gone...after 50 years pretty much the park rides have lasted and stayed classic (w/ a few upgrades here and there).
If they can last 50, they can last 50 more (w/ a few more upgrades)

Re: When Disneyland hits the big 100, what rides/attractions will be gone?

1. Gadget's Go-Coaster
2. The present state of Tomorrowland.
3. Winnie The Pooh (will either be home to a new attraction or a very different ride experience).
4. The current Matterhorn (it will certainly go under some type of big rehab, I don't see the track lasting 50 more years).
5. Star Tours
6. Innoventions
7. Tarzan's Treehouse
8. Astro Orbiter
9. The Nemo Subs
10. Anything in Toontown could possibly leave as well.

Re: When Disneyland hits the big 100, what rides/attractions will be gone?

I think Star Tours is so out dated that I believe George Lucas may be at work crafting a whole new ride to debut in the coming years...

With all six movies out now there's a great possibility that a new Star Wars Attraction will debut in both parks, DL & WDW, especially with the 30th anniversary just around the corner. I can see the big announcement coming in 2007 that will have jaws a droppin!

Imagine a whole new ride similiar to Star Tours featuring all six movies throughout the ride. Amazing work. Now as to whether George still has the same love he once had for Disney theme parks is another thing.

Re: When Disneyland hits the big 100, what rides/attractions will be gone?

Buzz
Pooh
Autopia
Indy
Nemo (yeah, it's not even open yet, but somewhere down the line, the lagoon will become some sort of hot issue again and it will be removed forever)
Star Tours
Innoventions
Quite a bit of DCA.

Re: When Disneyland hits the big 100, what rides/attractions will be gone?

Um, let's see.

ToonTown I HOPE will not vanish (its a brilliant idea), but I do hope it gets MAJOR overhauls and expansion.

Tomorrowland, dear God. Tear it all down except Space and RESTART. It's totally ugly, depressing, and boring in its state right now.

NOS, CC (add back Bears, leave in Pooh and update it), Frontierland are all pretty safe to me and will remain virtually the same.

Adventureland - the treehouse, bring BACK SWISS!

Fantasyland I hope they reconsider expansion ideas.

Over all, anything goes in Disney.

Who can say at all, what the answer to this question could possibly be? I can't imagine anyone in 1955 saying "at the 50th anniversary, we'll see Buzz Lightyear's Astroblasters", or "Indiana Jones" or even some of the stuff they came up with in the late 1960s.

Just enjoy the ride and see how much, or how little, things change in 50 years.
