Yensid, COP is a four act story about the progress and future of electricity. It featured a scene from the 1800s, the 1820s, the 1840s and then present day... all showing that we had a "Bright big beautiful tomorrow..." thru advances in electricity. GE sponsored the show at the 1964-65 World's Fair and then it was moved to DL, opening in 1967.
Give me back Tomorrowland (pre-1997) any day! Get the Astro Orbitor out of the entrance, and put it back up above the Peoplemover station (the Observatron is a waste of space anyways). Put the Skyway back in. Get rid of Innoventions, and since all the AAs for America Sings is in Splash, Carosel of Progress can go back in (if it works for WDW, it can work for us). The Peoplemover is a definite must, complete with the awesome TRON tunnel (my one favorite spot in the world as a kid).
I don't think anybody else has mentioned it, but I'd say cut the losses, get rid of DCA and put the original parking lot back in. There was something about seeing the Main Entrance gates and Main Street Station out in the distance as you walked up from your car, and anticipation grew with each step.
Shoot! I had pictures of this! I wish I had kept them on my hard drive, but I assumed many other visitors on the Disney web had them, too.Originally Posted by Whatever
The problem with America Sings isn't rebuilding a bunch of props, it's restoring the Carousel Theater to the AmSings configuration and getting new AAs.I think all the stuff for america sings was torn out for Innoventions wasn't it? that would be a big undertaking to bring back...
Almost all the AAs in Splash Mountain (excepting Brer Rabbit/Bear/Fox) are from America Sings.
Skyway was an eyesore and it's interesting that you mention CoP working for WDW because well.... it isn't working for WDW and they'll probably be replacing it in the next 10 years or soOriginally Posted by CA_man_stuck_in_VA
and as far as DCA goes I don't think Disney's lost any money from it and it'd cost tons to put a worthless parkinglot back in
I agree they should bring back the Skyway, Maybe enclose the areas of each gondola so no one can jump out? Is that the reason they closed it?Originally Posted by HeidiAndMiriam
I always enjoyed watching Disneyland from above it was fun. Also a nice chance to get a break from standing and walking.
The Motor Boats. Nothing better than a leisurely cruise through the back waters of Fantasy/Tomorrowland. It was the Autopia without the noise and exhaust, and a great place for some rest and relaxation without much of a line. I guess as a patio it still serves the same purpose.
That is one of my first rides, when I first visited DL. Now that area is dead.Originally Posted by Scribby
This is another area for rides, shows, etc. that could be developed.![]()
There was already plans to close Skyway. The fact that someone jumped only sped the process up.Originally Posted by TicTocDragon

So far most have been focusing on Tomorrowland, but I'm going to toss a bid in for bringing Frontierland back to its former glory.
Specifically, they need to bring back the desert and the mine train and the rainbow caverns. I know, it's not going to happen, it'd be too expensive, the ride capacity would not justify the expense, real estate or maintenance...
But it sure would be great to have a place to experience the feel of the old west again.
I miss the counter bears.
Yup.....It was mainly closed due to it's lack of Handicapped access. It would have taken a complete reworking of the attraction, even the Mattterhorns tunnels, to accomodate CAs code.
