    Splash Mountain: Is it dark?

I'm going to Disneyland in a few days and have decided it's time to try a few rides I've never been on before. I'm a total scaredy cat and claustrophobic but I'm getting better slowly...

Anyway, I was thinking that since I love the song Zippity Doo Dah and I loved America Sings, I should try Splash Mountain, especially since it will be hot next week. I was reading a review of it and it said one drop is in the dark?

It's my understanding (and this could be totally wrong!) that most of the ride is pretty tame except for one big drop at the end. Is this big huge drop all in the dark???? (Yeah, I'm afraid of the dark, too.)

(If so, that would explain why people "flash" themselves -- it's dark and they think no one will see?)

    Thanks in advance!

The Huge drop is outside and you can see the logs dropping all over the park. So unless it's dark outside it is out in the open for God and everyone to see ya scream!

No, the drop is totally outside. (You see it as you walk past the ride) If it is daytime you will not be in the dark.

The ride is totally tame except for the big drop and it is over with so quickly you don't have time to freak out!

Give it a try. It is one of my favorites.

Now, the large drop is outdoors and not dark.
When the bear says "there's bees in here" is dark.
    That is a tame drop
I don't know about the dark and flashing people.

OK, I can handle a big drop in the open. I will give it a try. Thanks for all the info and encouragement!

TO START OFF W/...I'M NOT BEING MEAN... I just think the sentence is funny (but I understand what was really meant)

So logs drop all over the park? I hope the don't hit people in Space.
That would hurt... a log out of nowhere in the dark.

The drop that is dark ("There's bees in here") may seem kinda weird your first time. It drops and comes back up, kinda like a big dip rather than a drop. But it's very fun! I'd say it could possibly rival the big drop in thrills.

LOL!!! I also failed SSL! Does this say "You can do it"? Reminds me of those trade school (Bryman? Heald?) commercials on TV "You can do it!"

Re: Splash Mountain: Is it dark?

I was totally terrified to ride Splash Mountain until I saw it on a Disney program on the Travel Channel. It was actually the one at Disney World, not the one at Disneyland. They are similar. The ride is quite lengthy, but it is a lot of fun. It is true, that the last drop happens so quick, the best thing to do is just scream with joy. (Or Terror). However, by the time you arrive at the happy place, you will be happy that you rode it.

WDW SM has more scene's (some of which are very cool), so the ride length is longer (which DL's wasn't so short)
    However
DL's drop is so much better
