Look at how dressed up people got back then!

The Carousel of Progress is currently at Disney World in Orlando.

Dig the Skyway going through the matterhorn.

Walt was a died-in-the-wool Republican who strongly supported America's Free Enterprise system and the important place private companies play in that economic system. Even when the Park was a roaring success in the 1960's, he still sought out and cultivated sponsorship agreements with the leaders of American industry.

    I like Walt.

Actually, judging by the hairdos and hemlines on the ladies, as well as some of the childrens fashions, I would peg these pictures as from 1959 up until 1962 at the very latest.

The other giveaway is the Skyway vehicles, as those models were used only from 1956 to 1963. But the hairdo and black dress of the fashionable lady in the picture pegs it as 1959-60. Is that lady a relative of yours?

I was going to ask who the photographer was because of the great view points, but you answered it for me. Thanks for sharing.

    Adelade,

In your first two photos, it looks like the kids are getting an autograph from the Dennis Weaver, the actor who was in the TV show "Gunsmoke", and later "McCloud."

It's 1962 according to my mom, I did the wrong math, and yes the lady in the Black dress is My grandmother.

    Wow, loving these retro photos!

When did the Matterhorn bobsleds change from one car to multiple linked vehicles?

Thanks Adelade! I had never seen photos of them as single sleds and did not even know they had never been like the vehicles that are on the ride today. I also did not know that they added the snowman and crystals later. Great information to share the next time I ride with friends/family...they will think I am so smart and then I will have to come clean and admit it came from a trivia inclined Mice Chatter

Re: Retro pictures from Tomorrowland, late 60's / early 70's

Really nice to see the active late 60's Tomorrowland, with a working People Mover and the Rocket Jets up on the pylon where they belonged (and still do!). And the pic of the NASA control room is priceless! I can't tell you how much I loved this room as a kid. I wish I'd had the courage to just stay in that room and skip the main show for at least a cycle. It was total fascination for me to see all of those desks and buttons and monitors. Small wonder that I ended up a video engineer!

OT - Athlonacon, are you a Pat Metheny fan? Your sig is very close to a Metheny album title. Just wondering.
