    Re: Walt "ghost story"

Walt does haunt Fantasyland and the castle. That was his most favored land in the park, so it makes sense.

Tomorrowland is haunted by the idiots who died on the People Mover Tracks during two grad nights. One haunts stockrooms and writes HELTER SKELTER on the walls at night and the other haunts the track itself and the loading area. CMs with long hair always felt someone tugging on their hair at the loading area. This is because when one of the guys who died on the PM tracks was being pulled under his car he was pulling on his girlfriends hair to try to stop himself from being crushed.

Word from CMs is that the west side of the park is even more haunted than Tomorrowland.

The only DL story I think can be possibly true is the one about the female CM who died in the America Sings building because all the stories I heard about that are the same.

All DLR deaths are well documented and the PM ones actually happened.

    Re: Walt "ghost story"

    America Sings

    * In 1974, Cast Member Deborah Gail Stone, 18, of nearby Santa Ana, California was crushed to death between a revolving wall and a stationary platform inside the now-closed "America Sings" attraction. She was in the wrong place during a ride intermission; it was unclear whether this was due to inadequate training or a misstep. The attraction was subsequently refitted with breakaway walls.

    Columbia

    * On December 24, 1998, a heavy metal cleat fastened to the hull of the sailing ship Columbia tore loose, striking one cast member and two park guests. Of the guests, Luan Phi Dawson, 33, of Duvall, Washington, died of a head injury. The normal non-elastic rope (designed to break easily) used to tie the boat off was improperly replaced by an elastic rope which stretched and tore the cleat from the ship's wooden hull. The park received much criticism for this incident due to its policy of restricting outside medical personnel in the park to avoid frightening visitors, as well as for the fact that the Cast Member in charge of the ship at the time was a novice. This accident, along with an accident that removed some of a child's toes on Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, prompted California to pass its Theme Park Safety Law.

    Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

    * On September 5, 2003, 22-year-old Marcelo Torres of nearby Gardena, California died after suffering injuries in a derailment of the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad roller coaster. The cause of the accident was determined to be improper maintenance and training of employees.

    Matterhorn

    * In 1964, 15-year-old Mark Maples of Long Beach, California, was injured after he stood up in the Matterhorn Bobsleds and fell out. He died three days later.
    * In 1984, Dolly Regina Young, 48, of Fremont, California was thrown from a Matterhorn Bobsleds car and struck by the next oncoming bobsled. Her seatbelt was unbuckled, but since she was riding in the back seat of the sled alone, it is not clear whether she had deliberately unfastened her belt or if it was a result of the seatbelt malfunctioning.

    Monorail

    * In 1966, Thomas Guy Cleveland, 19, of Northridge, California, was struck and killed by the monorail, dragging him 30 to 40 feet down the track. This occurred after a Grad Nite celebration while he was trying to sneak into the park by climbing onto the monorail track.

    Peoplemover

    * In August 1967, Ricky Lee Yama, 17, of Hawthorne, California, was crushed while jumping between two moving PeopleMover cars at the ride was passing through a tunnel. Yama stumbled and fell onto the track, where an oncoming train of cars crushed him beneath its wheels and dragged his body a few hundred feet before being stopped by a ride operator. The attraction had only been open for one month at the time.

    * On June 7, 1980, 18-year-old Gerrardo Gonzales of San Diego, California was also crushed by the PeopleMover while jumping between moving cars. The accident occurred as the ride entered the SuperSpeed tunnel.

    Rivers of America

    * In June 1973, Bogden Delaurot, 18, of Brooklyn, New York, drowned while attempting to swim across the "Rivers of America". Delaurot and his 10-year-old brother stayed on the island past closing time by hiding in an area that is off-limits to guests. When they decided to leave the island, they decided to swim across the river. Bogden carried his younger brother on his back, as the younger brother was unsure how to swim, but Bogden drowned halfway through the swim. His body was found the next morning. The younger brother was able to stay afloat by "dog paddling" until a ride operator rescued him.

    * In 1983, Philip Straughan, 18, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, drowned in the Rivers of America while trying to pilot a rubber emergency boat from Tom Sawyer's Island that he and a friend had stolen from a "cast members only" area of the island.

Red Face Re: Walt "ghost story"

This might sound stupid, but about half a year ago I was on the Haunted Mansion and just to see what would happen I muttered something like "Walt if you are here, stop the ride." Sure enough the ride completely stopped. So I tried it again on Buzz and the same thing happened. I think that Walt watches over the park and its guests.

I find it ironic that out of those 10 deaths, Disneyland itself is not to blame in most of them.

The only occurance that Disneyland could possibly be blamed for is the seatbelt malfunction story about the lady flung out of her car on the Matterhorn. But like the article said it is still debated if Disney is to blame for not inspecting the seatbelt or if the lady decided to unbuckle herself during the ride.

I am not sure about the thunder Mountain thing though. I forget if Disney said everything was operating okay or if it was caused by an uneducated CM, or both.

Thanks for the stuff ManaByte !!!!

Wow...that's trippy. If I remember that next time I'm in the park I'll try to say it.

As for the Innoventions building...I thought it was only that lone CM who was killed back in the 70s? They have info like that in those Mouse Tales books.
