Motor Boat Cruise has water again! (04/22/05)

The Motor Boat Cruise walls are down and the Fantasia Gardens section is again filled with murky green water... at least partially.

There are still nets up in front of the exit/entrance to the main part of the track, behind which there appears to be a dam and it is still drained back there.

Anyone know what on earth they are doing?

maybe they are loosening up the sludge that was sitting on the bottom of the lagoon for easier removal......yuck!

Hehehehehe, but only 1/4 of it? I have a guess that maybe they are going to fill in the rest of the ride and leave the fantasia gardens portion intact for now. Maybe so it still looks sort of niceish for the summer crowds? I dunno how nice they really think it could look with those GIANT eye sore ODV carts parked out front.

Anyway, it's a guess, I can't even call it a theory a I have no corroborating evidence.

So it's probably a wrong guess at that!

Maybe the ride will be coming back! I really really hope so. What did they do w/ the boats themselves when the ride closed?

They are mostly all gone. Some were auctioned off I believe and I know there is one mounted to the ceiling of the Eat Ticket. I am sorry to say it but I think the Motor Boat Cruise (at least in the incarnation you remember) is dead, dead, dead. When spaghetti sticks to a wall - it's done and when a motor boat sticks to the ceiling - it's dead.

I really want it back, no point in letting it sit there. Fantasia Gardens is very serene and pretty but I'd take the Motor Boat Cruise back anyday.

Well I am sure Matt is weighing all the options, the costs / benefits analysis of a Character meet and greet, a walk through garden, or a building for a dark ride or a restaurant or retail... So write letters, emails, stop by City Hall... I'm sure if they thought there was any chance bringing it back would be a big hit with the public, they'd do it, just to spite Cynthia and Paul. Of course it'll have a Pixar overlay with plastic characters along the way. But maybe a boat ride will come back in some form along those waterways.

What other Pixar movies haven't been exhausted?

Last I had heard the Motorboard cruise is to be filled in with dirt, it is being planned and looked at By Matt and his crew of imagineers to expand on this area at a later date,around 2008.(sorry,to those who wanted it back

So they are buisily planning and looking at every part of Disneyland, even if you dont hear about it, Matt Ouimet and the Imagineer team are working over time seeing what can be done , ONE section at at time.
Alot of damage was done by the previous crew as we all agree, and he has a VERY hard job of fixing and reviving the park and We must all agree he is doing a great job, concidering what the condition was when the park was handed to him.
I would like to say that even though i have read people compare Matt to Walt, all I would agree with is that I do think that Matt is doing a great job and that Walt would be proud of what he has done so far, Matt does seem to be focused on Disneyland and carry alot of vision like Walt, lets just hope he stays on that path and doesnt loose vision of the the True Walt's Disneyland!

Motorboat cruise circled under the overpass of Autopia and worked seamlessly into the park, with monorails above and cars along side it, that is part of the movement that was connected by Peoplemover and all the other rides in the area. That would be lost, and very little of the former canal could be put into use as any other kind of attraction. So it is sad.

Too bad a boat ride doesn't fit into any Disney movies of late.
