A look at the new Cars Meet and Greet at DCA

These look like the same ones that were parked in front of the El Capitan when Cars played there and also used for the various promotions around the country. There had been a link posted somewhere on their schedule and I believe this is their last stop.

I had hoped to go to El Cap and see them but never made it up there. My understanding is that they are just decorated and a bit remodeled to look like the cars in Cars. They don't talk and the eyes don't move (correct me if I'm wrong). I think they are very well done.

Those were suppose to go to Pixar headquarters. These were made for th park.

They look just like the ones from Disney Stars and Motor Cars parade at MGM Studios.

the cars are animated in that their eyes move... mcqueen kinda does a little bounce as he revs up. mater has the tire shaped thingy as his nose spinning around. They didn't get any dialogue from the actors unfortunately :/ (maybe not so much for the meet'n'greets but I was hoping they would in the mgm parade).

Those cars are really adorable! Like others have asked, do they just roll around the park on random, or do they have scheduled times where they make their appearances...and do they stop so you can get a chance to snap a picture? Cause all I know is I'd love to get a picture with Mater!! I love me some Mater!!

My daughter would just love to meet them! She thinks Lightning McQueen is the coolest thing ever. I sure hope that they stick around for a while!

The "Calendar" section, at Disneyland.com, lists the following:

4:45 p.m. - "Cars" Pre-parade

5:15 p.m. - Block Party Bash

So it appears that this is a rolling pre-parade that goes along the DCA parade route (probably with pre-recorded dialogue), before Block Party bash begins. Not truly a meet and greet, but I know kids would love to see both Lightning and Mater no matter what.

oh this is so cool. im glad they have this there it is too cute. i thought that the only place to meet them was going to be at El Capitan.

The CM Reference Guide has the event 6 times a day...

11, Noon, 1 PM (the one I went to yesterday), 2:45, 3:45 and 4:45.

The first five, the two Cars come out by the Maliboomer Parade Gate and drive up the parade route to the Golden State Amphitheater, and then just sit there for about 20 minutes before going back the way they came.

As I understand it, the 4:45 PM event is the cars driving down the entire parade route.

There is one "face" character who is holding the suitcase, he has a little spiel, and the cars basically just honk, as you see some of the photos, a few kids thought Mater was honking too load.

Looks like they will be around thru the end of August.

One of my leads mentioned driving around backstage on a golf cart, seeing the back side of Mater, and wondering "Why do we have a tow truck here? Why does it look so ghetto?" After she passed him and saw the front, she was like "Oh, it's Mater."

Oh Man, I don't think we are going to make it back until September. I hope they keep them around a little longer.

At the Disney MGM Studio, they play Life is a Highway when Lighting and Mater come out and leave.
