I say bring CoP back home to Disneyland!

    The Case for Progress

After Labor Day crowds dwindle down in October, Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress may have its final spin at Walt Disney World… D-Troops.com

Great Idea! Bring some life...aka audioanimatronics...back to the heart of Tomorrowland(besides Star Tours)...but, that's really just robots not AA!

that'd be nice but it's not likly

I mean Innoventions costs almost nothing as opposed to an animatronic show which will costs tons of cash

I do like the carousel though

but I also wanna see Asimo o_o

I recently saw CoP at WDW

I saw CoP in October of 2003. They don't run it that much. Most of the time it sits closed. Only for peak or near peak times do they run it. I have to say I did enjoy it, only because it brought back so many wonderful memories as a child. The condition of the ride looked like it needed work. The main talking male figures had problems with their mouths and worked very stiffly. They weren't working properly. I bet it is the same 1964 mechanism that has performed for nearly 40 years! I guess over years, no one was willing to do proper maintenance. In one case, they positioned the fan the host AA was holding to cover his mouth since it did not move much. I was disappointed by their moving CoP to Florida many years ago, but I have to say we have to be careful what we wish for. CoP could be a wonderful attraction again, but it will take money to upgrade and repair it. The reason for its closing in WDW is not just popularity, but because it is in serious need of maintenance and they don't want to spend the money to fix it.

I never got to see CoP... and I really want to.

It seems so kitsch and fantastic and hopeful.

I'm hoping to go to WDW in August, do you think it will be open then?

That is a low attendance period so maybe not. You can think positively. Sometimes on a busy day they will turn it on!

I've never seen it either. Why not bring it back with a few updates.

To update it correctly, they would have to add two rooms. As it stands now, this is how it works:

    1900
    1920
    1940
    1960
future (but not the future as seen from 1960. The future as seen from now. So grandma has a virtual reality headset or something?)

So, they would need to add a room for 1980 and 2000 to make it less awkward.

I don't know... it would cost A LOT to update that attraction propoerly. Plus, I'm sure if they did it, it would NOT be done properly. :|

Grandma just lives forever doesn't she! Always found that amusing.

But seriously, I'd love to see the CoP back at Disneyland. I always found it to be so charming.

Honestly though, it would be so refreshing to see Tomorrowland have some semblance of the future of homes and daily living in it, much like Monsanto. Perhaps not another indestructible home, but something pertaining to that. Innoventions just never quite grasped that idea to the fullest potential.

    Highest period for WDW

April thru July is their highest period. When it gets muggy there, attendance drops off. Also hurricane season is from middle of August to early October. Since Florida had so many bad ones last year, I believe that they will have low attendance then. January is also low since it is after Christmas and people don't want to travel then.

WDW will be beautiful! But CoP will not be open in January. In fact it looks like they will be closing it at the end of July.

I'd like to see it updated to include the original final act. It's already pitched as nostalgia - go all the way.

I would like to see it returned to Anahiem and and completely refurbed and updated. Instead of starting the show in 1900, why not start it in 1955 (the year Disneyland opened)? Then it could proceed as follows:

-1955 (black and white tv, refrigerator, washer/dryer, typical post-war suburbia)
-1975 (cool disco era stuff! 8 track tape players anyone?)
-1995 (home computers, the internet, birth of the information age)
-2015 (very near future, almost identical to today)
    -2035 (the future... who knows?)

This could be a great show with all new updated AA and it would be an attraction worthy of the name "Tomorrowland".
