That is the problem for them. Unless they can come up with something, attendance is going to drop significantlty after summer ends (some say it already dropping). That is the downside of having a special promo like the 50th. And it probably explains why we will probably be seeing an endless litany of lesser promos: halloween days, two-fers, etc.

My two cents... This concept had potential and originally (when announced)
I thought that this could be a decent post 50 campaign, but the actual descriptions
and planning that I've heard so far and the follow-on campaign so far has been
    lackluster.

The prizes/"dreams" that MC'ers have come up w/ are better than the ones announced so far!

    ------

The Jedi Academy at the Tomorrowland Terrace (luv the revert on the name!) and the
Princess Boutique both should be in different locations! Esp. the Boutique (move to Thunder
Ranch or the Skyway building). I hate the fact that it changes a venue. (show into a
sales&meet&greet). Jedi Academy should go into the 2nd floor of Starcade w/ an entrance
    near Star Tours. IMHO.

It was doomed to fail, any idea after the success of a historic event such as the 50th Happiest Homecomming on Earth has a lot to live up to and franky the only thing that could would be a celebration of the tearing down of DCA.

The campaign comes across as boring!

Re: Do You Think "Year of A Million Dreams" is as Cheesy as Al Thinks?

I've re-read the press release regarding this program, and there is nothing in here that creates any excitement for me.

There are a few items seem kinda neat, but they don't seem to stack up to the excitement the press release tries to create

    • The return of the subs sounds exciting.
    • "Rockin' Space Mountain" (as it's referred to in the release) sounds mildly interesting.
    • The DLR penthouse concept sounds cool, but I'm sure I'd have better chances of being struck by lightning than to actually win something like this.
Maybe I'm missing something, but I just don't see what there is to be excited about with this campaign.

Well here I go showing my age,

During the 25th(ahem), DL gave away a GM car per day! Plus many other prizes. In fact if I can remember correctly, every person received a gift upon entry to the park. They had the turnstiles turned into a big prize machine. I think the prizes ranged from a 25th pin to a car. Still have the pin!

They had a big part of the parking lot in front of the entrance blocked off for displays of the new cars.

With the economy on the skids and the US car industry struggling, maybe they should dust off this one again.

It's sad they choose to go cheap after the banner year the park has just had!!

I also vote for nothing at all instead of crap...

They gave out brand new Honda Civics everyday for a month in October. THAT was more exciting than dream year stuff...

And besides, Knott's usually has promotions where everyone gets a hat just for coming!

The Honda event was really cool. Give out cars again! Everyone wants cars...
I find signatures are overrated. Except for this one.

If Pressler or Harris ever came back it would be "year of a million screams" when the news hits this site.

    you're all right.

    *not thought out
    *gimmicky stuff
    *cheap & easy "upgrades"
*new offerings that are very underwhelming

it's just not good enough for disney, but that doesnt seem to matter anymore, there's no longer that disney standard....

and what they arent telling you, is that the dreams have already begun...
a dream was granted to a guest at the blue ribbon bakery. Guest Jack was given a card that allows him free coffee for life at the blue ribbon bakery, there's even a button on the registers now for the cast. This was dream #1 granted by Disney. So the campaign has already begun behind closed doors. plus it doesnt quite fit the gifting that had been set up for us previously...so who knows what this is really gonna do.
