    Definitely the original Country Bears.
Warning: Portions of this attraction are intense and may not be appropriate for younger children.

I like Pooh. CB is also cute, but I can still see it in MK.

I never got to see the original Country Bear Jamboree, I think I've just seen Vacation Hoedown.

Re: Country Bears VS. Pooh. Who Would YOU Rather Have In Bear/Critter Country?

The Country Bears! They wasted so much money gutting the two Country Bear Theaters and making useless the basement of the building, and leveling the floor just to place that piece of Pooh and Heffelump crap in it's place. And the crowds still were showing up for this show, that I think is better than the Billies. The Christmas show was my favorite thing in DL for the Holidays, and they certainly could have brought back the original show, with Big Al's Blood on the Saddle, instead of the lesser show, Vacation Hoe Down. And there were certainly plenty of other themed shows that would have been fun to see developed for the bears, including a Patriotic salute, and a Spooky Halloween show with the Bear. There's no freaking way the Pooh ride would EVER be as entertaining as the Bears. Force fitting Pooh and the rest into BOTH Country Bear Playhouses was truly the single most despicable travesties the Eisner/Pressler/Harriss regime wrought on this lovable crew of friendly critters. And Max, Melvin, and Buff were truly my Favorite group of Animatronics in all of Disneyland. I HATE the travesty the befell our Country Bears!

Re: Country Bears VS. Pooh. Who Would YOU Rather Have In Bear/Critter Country?

Bear Country was weak even in it's prime. I was a kid then and said "that was it?". The CBJ was not that good of an AA show. Any "land" that has one whole side of it's street dedicated to nothing but a giant Rest Room is a loser. Start over with a better idea
or bring back the Indian Village. At least that was authentic and good at what it set out to do. Today there is more interest in Native American Culture. They could have done the "Spirit Lodge" type show like they have a Knott's. Or at least a Casino.

What's the point of making a thread like this; it just gives everyone ANOTHER oppurtunity to bash Pooh again which I find ridiculous. Already 3 threads made this week regarding Winnie the Pooh and nothing but negativity.

I miss the County Bears, but thankfully they can still be seen in Walt Disney World. I'll be honest and tell you that I didn't go on Pooh on my recent trip, the line was simply too long. But if I had more time, I would have checked it out. But it still seems wrong to not have the Bears in Bear Country....Oops, I mean Critter Country. I guess when they change the name of your land, you know the end is near. lol
As nice as the other parks are, we must always remember that it all began at Disneyland. Disneyland should be the crown jewel in the Disney crown.

And yet you just had to post and ironically you said NOTHING positive about Pooh either. So what is your point?

Re: Country Bears VS. Pooh. Who Would YOU Rather Have In Bear/Critter Country?

WDW has both attractions. Tokyo Disneyland has both. So, why is it not possible for Disneyland to offer each of them? I'm partial to the option of bulldozing all of Critter Country, past Splash Mountain. Then, build a much larger Pooh ride building, install a ride/system that is as creative and advanced as that of TDR - if not more so.

Place the Country Bears in an "underground cave" (below Pooh) similar to the way DCA's Midway Mania is going to be located beneath California Screamin'. This would allow for the Pooh vehicles to dip down into the CB area at one or more points, and the animatronic Bear figures could "pop up" and make cameo appearances during the ride above.

The only reason that Critter Country has never been a phenomenal area is for it's lack of attractions, in terms of quality and quatity. If it wasn't for Splash Mountain, who would want to go there?

Umm, I think it's obvious from my post, but let me spell it out. Saying how people keep making threads about Pooh bashing, I wish it would stop. That's my point.

And for your amusement, I very much like the Pooh ride, always have.

Uzmati...InnerSpace...there's enough room in this thread for all of us. Here's a couple of cuddly Pooh bears, one for each of you. You can either hug 'em, or take out your aggressions. When your finished, shake hands and come out posting like champs.

I'd rather flush Pooh, bashing Pooh doesn't have same effect.

they should have a pooh vs. the country bears ride! and make it a really cool indianna jones type ride where it shows all the pooh characters in a heated bloody battle against the country bears! an call it Pooh Bear Vs. Country Bears: Fight For Critter Country. an like indy make the ride differant each time, like sometimes pooh wins an sometimes country bears win, an sometimes they both loose cuz nuclear weapons were involved... all in all i think it would please everyone on both sides of the debate! i should be an imagineer!

Re: Country Bears VS. Pooh. Who Would YOU Rather Have In Bear/Critter Country?

I'm probably in the minority here, as I only have a vague memory of the Country Bears beyond the movie, but I'm such a huge Pooh fan that I can't imagine a park without a Pooh ride.

Pooh is big business for Disney. Indeed, he is close to being on equal footing with the Disney Princess line as one of the company's biggest earners. Pooh is a multi-billion-dollar-a-year earner for the Big D, and it would be insane for them to eradicate that for a return to a franchise that recently managed to garner a mere $18,012,097 worldwide at the box-office (On a side note, I actually like the movie, but it certainly wasn't popular). It would be the equivalent of ripping down Space Mountain for the nostalgia of the Flying Saucers. It would be a backwards step.

(To step in further off topic, I'd love to see a DVD of the Country Bears movie with a comprehensive doco on the extinct attraction on it).

Besides of which, I just think that a dark-ride style format is far more "interactive" (for want of a better word) than an audio-animatronic show. The Country Bear Jamboree had its place, and it passed away, just as Pooh will one day. Someone once said something about Disneyland never being complete...
