Park Hours for DCA last week in August - really short.

I just printed out the hours for the Disneyland Resort for the 8 days that I will be visiting at the end of August until the beginning of September.

    They are:

    Sunday, August 27, Disneyland 9am to 10pm DCA 10am to 6pm
    Monday, August 28, Disneyland 9am to 9pm DCA 10am to 6 pm
    Tuesday, August 29,Disneyland 9am to 9pm DCA 10am to 6pm
    Wednesday, August 30, Disneyland 9am to 9pm DCA 10am to 6pm
    Thursday, August 31, Disneyland 9am to 9pm DCA 10am to 6pm
    Friday, September 1, Disneyland 9am to 12 am DCA 10am to 9pm
    Saturday, September 2, Disneyland 9am to 12 am DCA 10am to 9pm
Sunday, September 3, Disneyland 9am to 11 pm DCA 10 am to 9pm

I am surprised at the early closing time for DCA. Does California Adventure normally open at 10 a,m,?

I am going to have to write all of this down, or bring along my print out. I am sure I will pick up a schedule when I get there. The Electrical Parade, which begins at 8:45pm, only runs on nights that DCA stays open late. Fantasmic is only being showed at Disneyland on the weekends, and then it is shown twice.

It's time for me to coordinate all of this, with the meals that I have planned.

dca normally opens at 10. i honestly thought that those hours weren't going to go into effect until after labor day because that is when the summer period is considered to be over. seems a little early for those hours to go into effect.
    I'd rather be at Disneyland

That's a lot fewer hours. There are some things that I want to do over in DCA, and I am going to have to really plan a schedule, so that I don't miss doing those things.

This is NORMAL, Disneyland has been shorting hours and eliminating weekday entertainment for the last week of August for years, many folks are already back in school, including many of the CM's working at the parks.

I am just glad that I remembered to check this out. My trip is 3 weeks away, and I want to be prepared. It's the compulsive planner in me.

I've been saying it for YEARS!!

DCA should open at like 2pm and stay open until 10pm or midnight daily. Kind of like the Pleasure Island of the DLR.

It would give the Paradise Pier area of the park, a more carnival like atmosphere, and then they could run the Electrical Parade each night. I could also ride the Ferris Wheel, more at night, which I just love to do.

I should have quoted the above poster.

like darkbeer said. many of the cast members are back in school by the last week in august so those shorter hours actually do make sense. less cm's means less hours. also, most schools are back by then, so not many people will want to stay that late at the parks and not as many people will be visiting in general.
    I'd rather be at Disneyland

Too bad since DCA IS really better at night. The atmosphere is more entertaining.

Darkness hides a lot of flaws... and you'd be amazed what directed lighting can do to fix up a dump.

Don't waste too much time at DCA - I say spend a whole day there (if that is even possible due to their shortage on good attractions).

Then spend "possibly" the rest of your days at Disneyland - really EIGHT days at the Disneyland Resort is plentiful, if not overkill, so you will have plenty of time to do what you please...and also remember that you are going at a GREAT TIME (Schools are going back into session) people-wise - crowds should be down a bit, especially on the weekdays.

    My advice for you:

Through Days 1-5, enjoy the Parks and go on things you haven't been on (being on account that you went to Disneyland in 2005 - if I am correct).

On Days 6-7, see California - you can pretty much do everything at Disneyland in two full days (at most three). The Queen Mary, Aquarium of the Pacific, and nearby Knott's Berry Farm (if you really wanted to) are all fairly close by, especially the latter of those three (and not to mention very fun).

On Day 8, visit the DtD District, maybe see a movie, and finish your day at the park watching possibly Fantasmic! or the fireworks, or, um, hell,... both!

Whatever you decide to do, have a GREAT TIME!!!

Re: Park Hours for DCA last week in August - really short.

We are actually going to Laguna Beach all day on Thursday. That leaves us 7 days at Disneyland. I never really count arrival or Departure Day as full days, so that's 5 full days.

There are things at DCA that I really want to save time for. The Electrical Parade, Block Party Bash, the Sun Wheel, Monster's Inc, Aladdin, Muppet's 3D, Turtle Talk, Soarin, and perhaps Grizzly River Run.

Not exactly sure how we will approach this, but there should be plenty of time for everything. My grandson is planning on riding California Screamin with a friend.
