    The Hawaiian Shirt Security Force!

Anyone who went on the day of the Pirates 2 premiere, did you notice these guys? They were seemingly normal guys wearing Hawaiian shirts, some of them with straw hats who stood outside the security gates of the entrance plaza, trying to look like a normal tourist. They didn't try that hard, because we noticed them almost instantly. Especially since the guys at each security check (Harbor side and DTD side) were wearing the same shirt and when we looked at one, he kind of touched his pockets like adjusting a radio or checking his weapon.

If you know who I'm talking about, did you notice them? Or have you seen them at any other event where high security is needed?

There are similar people who work at Tom Sawyer Island, I mean the same clothes with straw hats, but no I never noticed them at the PoTC Premiere.

I can't say if these Hawaiian shirt guys were in approved on-stage costumes of some sort or if they were really undercover or not...though I suspect they were not undercover. But Disney does have lots of undercover Security folk that dress just like your average tourist. In internal Disney nomenclature, they are known as "Foxes."

Whoa, they were security guards? I took a glance at them, and thought nothing more than a regular tourist. I guess their 'disguise' fooled me.

If you noticed them, then their disguise didn't fool you.

A good "undercover" officer blends in w/o being noticed at all.

Great observation! You've got a keen eye...

I think my grandpa noticed them first. Probably from being an ex-Deputy.

Yeah, well, Disney has used the foxes for a long time now, but mostly for merchandise security stuff. Nowadays though...

I don't know, is it just me, or is us pointing out how to spot them counterproductive?

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...

And those ones, you DON'T notice until you've been nabbed. My wife and I were in the queue for Splash when some teenagers a few people ahead of us decided it would be a good idea to light up an "herbal jazz cigarette." Out of what seemed like nowhere, there were badges out and those guys were history before they even knew what was happening. It was amazing.

Maybe. But for the most part, I think the casual tourist vistor either will miss this thread, or even with knowing they are there, won't think twice about. How many people at DLR also wear Hawaiian shirts?

I miss the good old days when one could light up an "herbal jazz cigarette" (love that description) on the Moterboat Cruise and not get caught.

I love it when they appear out of nowhere, and get em!I have nothing against anyone having a good time the way they want to, but not there. not in line, while my kids are there. It doesn't belong there.I love when they catch any inappropriate behavior!

I miss the good old days when you didn't even have to light up a "herbal jazz cigarette" to get high at Disneyland.

All you had to do was ride Adventure Thru Inner Space a couple of times and you were there via second-hand smoke!!
