Re: Even more problems with Indiana Jones Adventure - Chamber of Destiny is now Broken

MickeyMania - I know what you're getting at. You're saying that it's the end of the season and Disneyland will be sending it's attractions down for refurb soon enough.

The problem is that Indiana Jones Adventure doesn't have a scheduled refurb announced for anytime soon. Indy fails to appear alongside attractions like the Haunted Mansion, Matterhorn, Gadget's Go Coaster, California Screamin', and the Disneyland Railroad - all of which are going down for fall refurbishment.

I'm not saying that an Indy refurb isn't in the works and just hasn't been announced, because I dont know those things... but I think we MiceChatters are a bit concerned that it hasn't been announced yet and we're definately frustrated with the current state of the attraction.

There's no denying that Indy needs a refurb, and there's no denying that it's been too long since it got one... But the bottom line is that we want the refurb now, and if peer pressure from us to Disney is what it takes to get some attention to the E-Ticket, then so be it.

You saying that we're overreacting or obsessing is weak. For heaven's sake - you're on a Disney message board. What do you expect?

Re: Even more problems with Indiana Jones Adventure - Chamber of Destiny is now Broken

I welcome Sadako's comments and others who point out maintenance issues whole heartedly! And IMHO we as guests to DL, and the prices they charge, deserve the best that Disney Corp. can provide. We pay a premium to visit the best theme parks in the world and the Disney Management needs to know when things are slipping, via web sites such as ours. If others are not taking notice, and writing as such, about other Disney Parks so much the shame.

If for example you were on your first trip to DL with a 7 day passport and the attraction you were riding was advertised to give you a new experience every time you ride, and it turns out that maintenance issues gives you the same ride every time, would you be thinking " What's up with this."

It is only through holding Disney's management accountable, by web sites such as ours that things get noticed.

Thank the Maker that Dumbo still goes round and Round.

Every single time I have ridden (that I remember), there have been rat noises but everything was pitch-black! The effect could have been working when I went in 2000, but I don't remember. Lucky for you that you finally saw them working.

Does anyone know/guess that these effects will be working by Christmas this year? (crosses fingers)

Actually, I wouldn't give too much weight to what is disclosed to the general public and what is not. The Matterhorn rehab was known about by many CM's before it was even disclosed to the general public. I am hoping that Indy will be the same.

But like everybody else has been mentioning, Matterhorn needs the big rehab more than Indy, so I am happy to see at least ONE large ride is getting what's due to it.

It could be worse--NO RIDES could be lined up for a rehab, or rides that absolutely don't need it could be lined up before the ones that do.

Re: Even more problems with Indiana Jones Adventure - Chamber of Destiny is now Broken

I have read all over about the rat effect never working properly. Almost every time I have been to the park, including the last time I was there (Superbowl weekend) I have seen this effect. I do remember reading that the speed of the vehicles carries the smoke away, causing issues with the projection not being seen. Perhaps I am just really lucky??? FWIW, I have only seen the riches and eternal youth rooms, never the third one.

Re: Even more problems with Indiana Jones Adventure - Chamber of Destiny is now Broken

this is a little off topic, but I went on the ride a few weeks a go and got stuck at the part where you first see the big bridge. All the lights came on and the safety gates all came up. After a few minutes of waiting stalled, the car started going through the ride with lights on and the soundtrack off. I saw everything and realized a lot of cool stuff I had never seen before, like when you go through the the completely dark part after the bridge you could see the cobwebs and stuff taped to the wood and there was like trashcans and stuff in there. But the jeep would stopp literally every few seconds for at least two minutes at a time and just keep shaking. It was so annoying and it gave me a major headache, but I got to ride it again. Oh and since the lights were on
Spoiler
I got to see that in the boulder finale, the room is movinf forward actually, the car isn't moving backwards! but you probably already knew that.
I just posted this because you guys were saying how the ride kept on breaking down.

MG, I know what you're getting at too and I know that you are not in the first group of people to jump on a negativity bandwagon. If you think it's bad, it's probably got to be pretty bad. The respect is mutual.

I've never said that there doesn't need to be a rehab, or that the current attraction is acceptable. I've said that the whole blow-by-blow analysis makes it seem like somehow the ride is getting progressively worse when the reality of it is that one room hasn't been operating properly, and it's likely something that will take more than some overnight fixes to deal with. In the meantime, we're STILL in the summer schedule, and I have faith that they may schedule an emergency rehab on this attraction yet. They've done it on other attractions before, they have yet to prove it to me that they won't.

The one thing I did agree needed immediate attention, the final AA, I've herad mixed reports on. Someone said he's no longer so bad.

If the summer season ends, discounts resume, the 50th stuff is pulled away and the room is still looking miserable, then I'll lose the faith and complain with everyone else. Not because it's ruining my visit (becasue I'm not a regular visitor) but just on good principle.

Re: Even more problems with Indiana Jones Adventure - Chamber of Destiny is now Broken

Even though attendance has been down all summer, they can't cut back on park hours because of prior advertising until after labor day, so there's considerably less time for third shift to get things done and more hours of wear-and-tear each day with guests being dispatched through the ride, so it's going to be difficult to get much work done before labor day. And at Indy, if any show effects aren't working a computer sets off an alarm. So unlike at other attractions, the cast members know if things are malfunctioning without having to go on a show check. But a lot more people are going to be asking City Hall for their money back if Indiana Jones was closed all day AND Thunder Mountain was closed three times because someone stood up and Space Mountain was closed and yadda yadda. The more e-tickets you have operating the happier the guests are. Maintenance knows the doors aren't working, and if it's going to take a lot of work then it won't happen until after labor day.

So I take it that it apparently is going to take long to fix ... so this probably won't be fixed until after Labor Day?

Sad.

UPDATE 08/16/06 (Some good news): The bad is that the lights are still broken and the door is still stuck on the right door. However the rooms are once again cycling. We got the Treasure Room this time around. The other good news is that the smoke from Mara's eye is finally working again. Take a look:

IMPORTANT: If you wish to see these videos, please do so ASAP. Due to all the crap I've had to deal with in the last 24 hours, it is very likely that I will be taking all my videos and pictures down from the entire site.

Thanks for the update.

I noticed people giving you a hard time about your Haunted Mansion theft and IJA videos. Sorry about that, people should just shut up and go on to the next video ...but it is a free internet, afterall.
Anyway, you should just upload to Photobucket Video and post the links here.

Thanks again though for the updates- I appreciate them

Re: Even more problems with Indiana Jones Adventure - Chamber of Destiny is now Broken

Kindof strange how things could get so bad so quick in there. When I went in the begining of July everything was in perfect working order, the doors moved, the eyes smoked, the rat effect worked, the rope was there. No pole though which I was sad to see gone. Thanks for keeping us updated!

Thanks for the update! Glad things are starting to come back online. With as popular a ride as Indy is, it must be a pain when it crashes.

Thanks for all your pics and vids... I enjoy watching them and seeing the park through your eyes.
