Too excited to sleep

... I know the commercial is for WDW, but it really applies here. We leave for the airport in about six hours for our trip to Disneyland. This will be Jerry's first, and my first in probably eight years.

We've been to the World a few times together, but this trip is so much more important to me. I've always felt that Disneyland was my home, from the time I met Walt until the present. I hope it's as magical for Jerry as it always is for me.

I've been playing the 50th CD set on my MP3 player non-stop for the past few weeks, building up the anticipation.

I've already warned Jerry that as soon as I see Sleeping Beauty Castle I will probably have a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes. There's nothing quite like the feeling you get when you finally come home.

Tick ... tick ... tick ....

I'm too excited to sleep.

Haha. Although I live a lot closer to the park and go more frequently, every night before my visit to Disneyland, I lay in my bed for a while too excited to sleep. I formulate plans about what to ride and where to eat. It's QUITE exciting but I always get angry that I'm not sleeping because I know I need my energy the next day.

I think some of us who live close by the park and have passes miss out on the kind of anticipation you are feeling. I'm excited for you! Sometimes when I am at Disneyland, it dawns on me where I REALLY am. I do hope your trip is safe and the experience of a lifetime.

I love that commercial, and it applies to all the parks. I can't ever sleep the night before myself.

I am a seasoned world traveler, and I've been to Disney parks around the world, but I always get excited the night before.

Now Adam gives me a "little something" so I can sleep better! I still wake up super early and ready to go to the parks.

When we stayed at the Grand Floridian in June, I couldn't get to sleep just watching the beautiful view we had of the Magic Kingdom from our room, and I still woke up at like 4:00 AM, with plenty of energy to visit the parks.

I can say I know exactly how you feel, especially given that I can only go there occasionally (i.e. every few years). Of course, for me, not sleeping the night before a trip works to my advantage, as it means I can sleep throughout most of the 14 hour flight. (I never actually manage to sleep for more than a few hours on a plane...perhaps I should start heavily medicating).

I'm sure I'll be posting something similar in a few weeks time.

I can't ever sleep the night before either.

I'm 35 and I can never sleep.
I keep getting up and looking out the window of the hotel or just going outside and looking at the park.
I go every 2-3 months and I never get tired of the park.

I live about 50 miles from DL...and have contemplated getting an AP...but work is so demanding that I think it wouldn't be very cost effective...Still I go about once a year...and that one time...I get butterflies and can't sleep the night before....!!!!!!
