    Why repaint the castle?

Al says that Disney will not be only removing the crowns from the 50th celebration but they are repainting it. THIS IS A WASTE OF MONEY! I understand why the crowns and banners need to come down, but the castle looks great now. Why change the color? There are SO many other areas of the park that needs maintenance, like Tomorrowland for instance. The money spent on repainting the castle just seems like a stupid waste of money.

    What do you think?

I figure if they are going to tarp the castle anyway to take down the 50th decorations and touch up any areas of the castle that need refreshing why not just do the whole thing so it all looks uniform? Also I think they are going to tone down the brightness of the colors.

i would imagine that when they take off some of the decorations, it may take off paint with it or the colors may not be the same because the area under the decoration did not fade but the area around it did. they may as well paint it while it's under the tarps because it's covered anyway. also, last i heard, they are going with a less bright paint scheme.
    I'd rather be at Disneyland

A lot of the decorations put holes in the castle facade. Trying to do a patch job with that metalic, shiny paint would never match

They could be just touching up some areas.

I think that the Castle should be repainted. I think for the 50th decorations to really have been special things need to return to 'normal'. If they just strip off the fancies and leave the bright paint , I think, it will look a bit tacky. I am sure that the repainting funds were included in the original budget for the 50th.

I love the new castle.... but it has to go. Well see it again in 10 years... or 10 minus 18 months... how does anyone expect Disneyland is balance books when a year's celebration is 18 months long?

Anyway... that was off topic. Fareware magical castle... hello magical castle.

    Re: Why repaint the castle?

I'm with those who like the brigher colors

even without the decorations the castle just looked great with nice bright colors and a shiny roof

I also agree that the painting money could be better spent

I've been fairly repetative on this as of late but the back of Tomorrowland looks terrible with noticable red spots left in places and then Space looks pretty bad too with the blue silver and white clashing with that ugly tan color that HISTA remains

Because it is the most obnoxious shade of pink. Repaint it to be the classy elegant castle it was designed to be, not the paris hilton of chateaus walking the streets.

I think it all depends what you paint some things will cost more then others depending on the level of detail and what kinda paint you use and all that

obvoiusly Disney has a limited painting budget and alotment of time or we'd see at least a few things kept a bit fresher (oh that remindes me I'm glad that those photomosaics are leaving)

the backside of Tomorrowland has been left half painted for a reason if you ask me

anywho it's not just the costs it's the rumor that they're going to tone down the colors and I for one do not want to go back to the sun bleached castle we had before
