It was mentioned in one of the very first YoaMD marketing pieces.

    Meanwhile, from Wikipedia:
The general public opening will not be until 2007, as a soundtrack artist is still not found, and most of the special effects required for the attraction are not in place yet. Rockin' Space Mountain is scheduled to premiere during the "Year of a Million Dreams" Celebration, and will be promoted alongside Rockin' California Screamin, a similar modification to Disney's California Adventure's California Screamin' roller coaster.
Is the Screamin thing new knowledge?

C'mon, it's from Wikipedia -- anyone can put stuff there. I could go on and edit it to say that Space is now going to have flying monkies. Doesn't make it true.

Ugh that makes it seem like the change means that classic Space Mountain will be "glowing away forever," which would be a really REALLY disappointing move.

Also, they're changing the soundtrack to "Defying Gravity" from the musical Wicked.

(Actually, that change would be really really cool, lol)

I think Disney will attract for Guests for its "Year of a million dreams" promotion than the 50th.

I hope it opens (in full form) with all its original planned rockit(n')-ness for Grad Night 2007. When I heard that it wasn't installed/working/finished properly/ontime/etc, I was hoping that next years GradNight would include the new Subs and/or Monorails, but I hope they do the Rockit Mountain.

A nice change would be for the music to actually work.

Theres no reason to chage the sign.

Rockin Space Mountain is not Rockit Mountain!

Space is still part of the name of the ride so they don't have to change anything, unless they plan on the Space and Rockin parts of the sign to go on and off.

Yeah, as far as names are concerned "Rockit Mountain" is the best.
I hope they do this, make it as awesome as it is 'supposed to' be (as in, look like actual effort was put into it), and keep the day/night change thing. I hope they do this, would be fun.

"Space" was still part of the Rock it Mountain concept, as well. Thus, the pun/play on words with "Rock it" and "Rocket"

Rockin Mountain makes me think of a granny in a rocking chair, knitting.
I really, really hope they don't use this name. It seems like a dated attempt to be hip and is a complete disconnect with the Space theme.

Actually, the two names being debated about are:
    • Rockin' Space Mountain
    • Rock it Mountain

But you're right. The use of "Rockin'" just seems like a poor attempt at being hip and edgy and tastes like California Adventure (California Screamin', Soarin' Over California, Rockin' The Bay, etc.)

^But if the rumors are true, you will have...

    Rockin' Space Mountain

    And

    Rockin' California Screamin'.....

    Both in Early 2007

And the "Rockin' " Name makes more sense if you are going to advertise both rides in the same ad/commercial.....

    Re: RockIt returns...

i'd much rather them not include full names of the real ride in these things. I mean I'd rather Rockin Mountain over Rockin Space Mountain in a flash.. And Rockin California Screamin'? California Screamin' already has a rockin sound to it, Rockin California Screamin is just long and redundant.

ugh. ugh. ugh. Please keep marketing types away from the theme parks. Please. Pretty please.

Unless the marketing types are hot chicks. Dress them as mermaids and toss them in the sub lagoon but don't let them design the rides! Dang I miss Walt.

If that rumor is true, I can't wait for the nauseating advertising campaign.
