Support Entertainment CMs and Parade Performers!

Now that the Parade of Dreams might be going the way of yesterland, (although conflicting info exists on that fact), it might be a good time to point out something - Disney's entertainment CMs work incredibly hard. Many of them are young and are looking for that first toehold into the entertainment industry, and are attracted to the Disney magic that can't be replicated elsewhere, and a job that's fun and allows them to express their love for dance and acting.

It's no secret that these CMs are not well paid, and are often required to work extra days, and extra shifts, due to changes in personnel and the needs of management, often money that barely covers expenses, and as you can see in the pictures below, many carry multiple roles. It's not unheard of for a CM to run from the Aladdin show to the Parade of Dreams show, sometimes the Block Party Bash, and then be expected to do another Parade of Dreams, or the Electrical Parade, or Fantasmic, or any combination of the above, into the late evening. But because of their direct involvement with guests, they are directly responsible for many people's enjoyment of their day at Disneyland.

Make sure to clap and show your appreciation during performances, and let the survey takers at the entrance and exits know if you enjoyed this part of your day.

Don't forget the CM ride operators and clerks behind the desk. Sure sometimes they may look "Un-interested" in Disney, but just start chatting with them....You may be wrong. CMs are some of the funnest people I know!

The first three pics are all the performers from the Beauty and the Beast and Little Mermaid float(s)!. The second and third set of pics are of Aimee and April, two of the hardest working dancers in the entire resort. As you can see, they perform a variety of roles, all with a smile.

I would be happy just walking from parade to parade to show to show at DL without ever riding a single ride. I really appreciate the showmanship, talent and enthusiasm. I cannot wait to see PoD again! Only a week to go!

BTW your pictures are just lovely. How do you get such clear close-up shots?

I have not heard this rumor at all. As far as we all know the parade is set for the next 5 years. The show stops have been talked about going away, but the parade is not leaving.

Thanks Jerm - I saw here and on another site that they said that the last day for the Parade of Dreams was in November, and that it may not come back. I do note that Wikipedia has a very recent entry stating that the parade was just renewed in 2006, but I haven't seen official confirmation either way, or maybe I misunderstood the posts I read. Either way, I think that the Entertainment CMs need as much support as we can give.

But the cast members keep up the photos by posting on myspace anyway!
