50th music...

I've been wanting the music I've been hearing during the parades and fantasmic and I remember someone mentioned it here on the board, but I don't seem to be able to find it using the search function. Perhaps you guys and gals can help me out. What's the CD set called and where can I get it? I've been searching high and low in DLR, but I don't seem to be able to find a store which carries it?!

Re: 50th music...

The music shop on Main Street seems to carry the 50th music. That's where I bought mine.

Does that one contain the song they're playing during the riverboat scene in fantasmic? (I don't even know the title, sorry)

Re: 50th music...

The A Musical History of Disneyland set is available in the parks at the Main Street Music Shop, and I also believe it's available in the Disney Gallery and at World of Disney. I'm not sure how much it is at DLR though - I think it's priced at $125 in the parks. It contains the complete Fantastmic! show, Remember...Dreams Come True audio, and complete ride-throughs of many attractions, excluding Fantasyland - for which there is a "Fantasyland Darkride Suite" comprised of a variety of clips and sounds from the various Fantasyland dark rides.

The Parade of Dreams audio is not included on the 6-Disc set, and I don't believe it has been released. You might be able to find clips of it on filesharing networks, etc.

DisneyShopping.com: A Musical History of Disneyland - Sale: $99.99 (Was: $124.99)
The Special Edition set is available at DisneyShopping.com and is on sale for $99.99. The Special Edition includes the "Walt Disney Takes You To Disneyland" 33RPM black vinyl:
Special Edition ''Walt Takes You To Disneyland'' 33 RPM Black Vinyl
This exclusive record commemorates Walt Disney Records' first release and features Walt Disney's voice welcoming everyone to the park on opening day.
Also, you can currently get free shipping on orders of $75 or more at DisneyShopping.com, and if you order TODAY, you can use the MINNIE10 coupon code to get an additional 10% off your order. The coupon code expires TODAY 9/3 though!

Amazon.com: A Musical History of Disneyland - $89.99
You can order the set online at Amazon.com as well. It gets FREE Super Saving Shipping from Amazon. Priced at $89.99 its cheaper than DisneyShopping.com, but does not offer the Special Edition vinyl record. And personally, I think an extra $10 is a good deal for the record.

Hope that helps!

Re: 50th music...

The "50th Anniversary~ The Sounds of Disneyland" 6 CD set
does include the full soundtrack to Fantasmic (on disc 6)
and also the entire 50th Fireworks soundtrack (on disc 5)
among many other terrific songs and shows.

BUT it does NOT include the soundtrack for Parade of Dreams,
I haven't seen that music available anywhere.

They don't sell POD or the X-mas Parade because there are different segments for each float.

I don't think that's the reason. They have had other parades
in the past that also had a different segment for each float,
such as MSEP, which is on the 6cd set, and Eureka! which
is on the official DCA soundtrack.

Re: 50th music...

There are even several loops of music and loops of different
phases that are used in the Haunted Mansion and Pirates,
and there are at least a two or three different cd's that have
had those two attractions. I have a Pirates cd that has
different tracks of sound, some even from the individual
animals/groups of animals.

Re: 50th music...

By the way if you are getting the 6 disk A Musical History of Disneyland ebay a shot while I bought a set at the park I got the limited gold edition at ebay and for only $75. This one I am keeping wrapped as a collectable. I see the regular set for $50 all the time. Just a thought for someone who might be unsure about spending $125 at the park for it.

You mean the CM with Class of 2006 on his nametag who has been working the Music Shop for exactly...two weeks?

These boards are almost always a better source of info than DL CMs. (No offense to those of you seasoned CMs who know your s$%t REALLY well...I'm not referring to you)

Re: 50th music...

^Well, whoever said that is definitely wrong! The reason why the parades aren't always released is mainly due to several reasons, the biggest being contract issues and the legal uses of the music. Usually, in the contract, all the legalities are worked out for the music to only be used in the park. If they want a cd release, it has to be worked out when those contracts are being put together, in which it wasn't for ACF and POD. Why some shows/parades get released and others don't-i think it comes down to who is doing the job, is it a good financial move, and is it worked out for it to happen from the get go. For a show like Block party, they are using a music they don't own, so they probably only got permission to used it in the park. To release it on cd, they would have had to pay a hell of a lot more for each song due to its usage. and there is even more to it than that that I don't really know. I hope that makes sense. I probably off on a few things, but that is basically what I got when asked Randy over at Walt Disney Records.
Most of the parks are getting better at releasing music- Tokyo leads the pack, Paris is right behind, and even WDW is getting better. Disneyland and DL hong kong need some major help in this dept. If they only knew how many out there would really buy.
