    Angry Paradise Pier Problems!

You know whats the problem with PP? The rides are way too short I mean, at the CA state fair they give you four turns on the wheel!

I'm not sure I'd want four turns on the Sun Wheel.

I would have been in tears by the third, and tried to climb out by the fourth.

    Scariest. Ride. Ever.

The Sun Wheel takes at least 9 minutes, sometimes more than 10 minutes if people are taking a long time getting in and out.

I don't think people would want to be on a Ferriss Wheel for more than 10 minutes. At the Big Wheel at the Irvine Spectrum, I paid 3 bucks per person and they only keep you on for about 5 minutes.

How many minutes are you on the Ferris Wheel at the Fair? In my experience, those types of experiences usually last 4 or 5 minutes.

I'm always viewed Ferris Wheels as a means of looking at the park and seeing the sights. In the case of the Sun Wheel, you get a little bit more. But seriously, how long do you want to be in that thing?

As for OTHER Paradise Pier rides, yeah, they are all relatively short (except Screamin', which has a very respectable time for a launched coaster)

*Shudders thinking about olden days operating the Sun Wheel*

Sun Wheel is a ride that tries to please everyone and ends up pleasing very few.

    "It's too intense!"
    "It's not intense enough!"
    "It's too long!"
    "It's not long enough!"
    "It's too tall!"
    "It's too short!"
    "Hoouuaarggghh!!!!" (My vomit noise^_^)

These are just a few of the complaints that I got on a daily basis. Oh well, you can't win 'em all.

Yechhhh! the worst problem with the ferris wheel
is that you spend more time starting and stopping
unloading and loading, than you do, going around
    the wheel.

And the worst problem with the paradise pier area,
is that the bulldoze accident didn't do enough
    damage.

Meh ... a ferris wheel. In the time it takes to load, ride and unload that thing I could have been on California Screamin' two maybe three times.

The fact that you can compare the county fair and a Disney park shows the flaw in the PP concept. I don't think the rides in PP are worth the little time it takes to ride them anyway. Except for California Screamin of course. I wonder if having Midway Mania will bring more people over to PP, making the other lines longer? I doubt it, but maybe.

It's not the length of the rides, it's the QUALITY. I don't see anyone complaining about Dumbo or Peter Pan!!!

Paradise Pier has issues - we get it. I'm not trying to be rude, but there are just sooooo many other threads about this same topic. I seem to remember starting one myself called "Bulldoze Paradise Pier."

    Re: Paradise Pier Problems!

The person above speaks the truth. I've seen lots of rides at county fairs that, in terms of ride type, are VERY similar to rides found in Fantasyland.

DCA isn't the only park with off the shelf rides.

A bit off topic, but Walt do you like the parks? It seems like all of your posts have been very angry and not to positive about anything in the parks? Not attacking just asking.

I wasn't implying that Fantasyland has "county fair" rides. I was just saying that how long a ride is doesn't matter. There are 30 second rides that I very much enjoy. Likewise, a 10 min. ride is not always good.
