Re: Weirdest/Most Annoying Name Used for an Attraction by the Unknown

I hate it when people say that they are going to Disneyland when they are really refering to Downtown Disney. Big Difference!

I usually just say "We went to Disneyland Resort" - that way it encompasses everything. But you're right - DD is not DL and not DCA.....but they are ALL Disneyland Resort.

I've also heard some say that they are going to 'Disney' when referring to both DL and WDW. This bugs me...don't know why.

The only thing that really bugs me is when someone calls a non Disneyride by a Disney name, like calling some stupid carny ride the Haunted Mansion or the Matterhorn.
Forget 'Great Moments With Mr. Lincoln,' Samantha Brown is Disney's most sophisticated animatronic.

I once heard someone refer to "Soarin' Over California" as "SCORIN' over California" forever transforming it into a "Mile High Club" attraction in my mind.

It used to bug me too.......in a verbal conversation, but in just composing it, I use it. Just like I put LN at the end of my address, but I "say" LANE.

I had a friend that used to say, "We're going to DL." I said, "I thought you didn't deal anymore and you were sober."

Anyway, so yes, I know what you mean.

By the way, my first initial and my wifes first initial and our lastname initial are D.C.A. WOOPEE!

Funny... it actually kind of annoys me more if somebody is *overly* specific about the ride name, i.e. following the marketing department's often lengthly mouth-full of a name. Like, "Hey, guys! Let's go to DISNEY'S California Adventure!" Or, "Hey, I'll meet you over at Snow White's Scary Adventures after you're done with The Many Adventures of Whinnie The Pooh, and then maybe we could hit up Pinocchio's Daring Journey." For me, generally one or two words suffice: "Pirates... the Matterhorn... the subs... Small World... etc."

    Right on.
Small World, Peter Pan, Monorail, Snow White, Carousel, Casey Jr....I agree....because their is correctness to those 'shortened' names......but some of the names that guests come up with are crazy sometimes.

I agree. I mean a Mansion is not much different than a house, other than the fact that it is larger. So if people prefer to call it the Haunted House, then cool. Whatever suits their savy. If people want to call Star Tours Star Wars, then cool.

Absolutely... it's much more frustrating when you have the "Well, Actually" people correct somebody. "Well, *actually*, it's called the Haunted MANSION, not the Haunted HOUSE." The "Well, Actually" people abound in every sphere of life... you know the ones...

Re: Weirdest/Most Annoying Name Used for an Attraction by the Unknown

I agree with you.....but on the same token, when something has a name, it has a name....and the only way someone learns a name is by telling them what it is.

My name is David......people who call me Steve, get kindly corrected once or twice.....but a name is what it is......and if they keep calling me by the wrong name, it gets annoying after awhile.

This thread 'topic' is really not a huge deal at all.......just a 'topic'.....

By the way, as a small small boy, I called Disneyland Dinseyland.....but people corrected me - and thank goodness.

I once had a CM working the 50th Anniversary exhibit give me LOTS of false info. Like the original location of of the Disneyland proposal, the history of rides, story lines... oi

I heard someone call Peter Pan, "Peeper Pan".
    Can you believe that?
