Bottled Water: Price Increase or Downsizing?

When my family was at DL yesterday, I noticed that there was something odd about the water we purchased. Instead of the sports bottle we had always received when purchasing a bottle of water from an ODV Cart, we received screwtop bottles that were 20 fl. oz. instead of the 24 fl. oz. in the sports bottles. I would think that the price would have been less, but no. Still paid the same $2.75 for the bottle.

When I purchased my next bottle of water from the popcorn cart in New Orleans Square, I asked when the change occured. The CM told me it happened about a week ago.

On a hot day like yesterday, it makes me sad to think that people who are spending good money to get hydrated are being a bit ripped off by Disneyland. When I was at WDW, the water was much cheaper for the same size sports bottles that we have (had) at DL. They understand the value of people needing to hydrate themselves properly while walking all over the parks. Not so much the folks crunching number in the TDA building who made the decision to downsize the water bottles.

I did spy a few sports bottles of water while at DCA & DL, and I noticed the ODV fruit/refreshment cart on Main Street still had the sports bottles for sale. Does anyone know why DL is changing the size of the bottled water they are selling to guests?

(On a side note: I understand that there are water fountains located throughout the parks, but I am a bit spoiled when it comes to my bottled water.)

That really ticks me off. It costs them nothing to provide this service!

Water fountains-ick. That's like using a pay phone! Cooties much?

I'm only sorry I didn't get in on the "Bottled Water Racket" 30 years ago.

When Perrier first arrived in the U.S. food scene and became trendy I was dumbfounded. I was sure it was a fluke.

And just think of all that plastic that ends up in landfills along with disposable diapers.

I understand completely. I'm spoiled too. Plus , I get sick when I drink water that's not what I'm used to drinking. Did you know that you CAN take water into the park with you? I usually take get two waters and two diet pepsis really cold in the fridge then carry them into the park in my backpack. It makes it a little heavy early in the day , but it saves me a lot of money!

You know what else I noticed besides the change in water bottle sizes? Some places were charging $2.50. some were charging $2.75 . The cheaper prices were in DTD!

I hate packing in all that water though. Maybe it's time for a CamelBak. But, no.

I've done the pack the water thing too. It gets hard to carry all that weight around the park, especially when I seem to be the pack mule for the family.

Leave the 24 oz. bottles and raise the prices. Don't stick us with the smaller bottles.

I totally agree, I always get stuck carrying all the water and we always end up buying more anyways! I would much rather pay a little more for the big bottles, that bites.

If you all think that is bad, I have been to some vending machines, not in Disneyland thankfully, where it costs $1 to get a little 4 Inch bottle of water.

I bet even if you spend $6.00 to rent a locker so that you don't have to haul all that water around, you'd still save money. With 6 of us in our family drinking anywhere from 2-4 drinks per day it comes out to almost $72.00!!!

    Boycott Bottled Water!

    It's all a scam, anyway...

The impression I got was that there was a problem with people leaving the plastic caps from the sports bottles all over the place, and they were just getting to be such a nuisance that they started getting phased out.
