I'm looking at dark beers photos, and you can see through the cave to the other side, whats on the other side of the cave?
Are the old movie rock things on the other side?
Just once I would like to read a thread and not have to know some sort of foreign language to make sense of it......exactly what the heck do the words "collaped" and "collapes" mean?
^^ Same thing. I was in a hurry and couldnt spell right. Or woke up at 2:00 AM with all of the other MCers.![]()
I completly agree with you. It would have been an interresting old display in it;s collapsed condition, but the netting just looks out of place and somewhat distracting.
Maybe something else was revealed in the collapse like internat structures that were not natural.
that used to be one of my favorite places in the park. I loved the mine car sitting out on the track.
[quote=MasterGracey;925670] It was neat, cause at night, they had a flickering red light back in the cave, and it just looked creepy and neat. quote]
I loved that too! Really added depth and mystery to the area and it was just very atmospheric and wonderful!
Well, up until recently, the tunnel wasn't covered. And nothing was being revealed. During the day, you could see through to the other side, but you couldn't see anything on the other side anyway. It wasn't as though being able to see through the tunnel was showing into backstage areas or anything. The netting is just ugly and pointless.
I believe that on the other side of the tunnel is that stretch of track that you can see from the river... the one that has the wrecked train and cars in it. Maybe studying an arial photo would confirm this?
I'd imagine you are correct. Which makes the netting that much more questionable. If all they're covering up is a window to the river, which from the distance you see if from doesn't allow you to really see anything anyway, WHY is Disney covering this up with netting?
Could they be constructing something in the cave? Maybe putting in a bear animatronic? A new minecar? Something else?
One could hope - afterall, it's refurb season - and Disney is pouring out the cash all over the place since the start of a new fiscal year is upon us.
But something tells me not to get my hopes up. ...Hmmm
Was the bridge part of the original nature's wonderland bridge?

The other side of the tunnel is not backstage. If you go on the mark twain or columbia, you can see it right before you dock again. It comes out of the hillside and there's nothing but the rivers of america on the other side.
Area was formerly Cascade Peak! Darn! Pressler and Harris strike again!

Here's the bridge as it originally was as part of Nature's Wonderland:

The reason that the netting was put up recently is that there was a further collapse of the structure which exposed some piping which ran just above the mouth of the tunnel. The collapsed tunnel itself didn't look too bad but when the piping got exposed it became bad show. You could see the white pvc and that is the reason for the netting. I'm sure they will eventually get around to fixing it. About a week ago a contractor was doing some trenching on the old mule trail which runs above the tunnel. Perhaps they are going to relocate the piping in preparation for fixing the tunnel.
