Righto. That was the "Politically Corrected" version. It was his moonshine still that blew up and caught the place on fire...not those nasty redskins. They added steam coming out of the house at that time too.

Intially...it was the Energy Crisis of the time that got the fire turned off (not Politically Correct to be burning gas like that when there was an Energy Crisis like that going on...though it could also have actually been a related law that prohibited such decorative open flames at the time. Seem to recall a bit of that as well).

Then they added an eagle with some chicks in a nest, and there was some story about that. But I don't recall what it was.

WDW's was still ablaze last summer, so I assume it was still on throughout 2006. Their's can be seen from the Liberty Belle and from the top of one of Big Thunder Mountain's lift hills. No Explorer Canoes or Keel Boats in Florida.

At one point they were going to change the Burning cabin into Johnny Appleseed's cabin with apple trees blossoming around and have Johnny sitting under a tree. Never happened unfortunately.

Oh yeah, planting apple trees is a hard fact that made America. Still, it's slightly better than what it will probably become. Woody's Lincoln Log Cabin. Because even though Toy Story wasn't about the American Frontier, or even life-sized toys, that won't stop Disney from dumping such things all over the parks.

Uh, just FYI, Opie, that's a very racially inflammatory term, equivalent to the N-word. Quotation marks might've been more appropriate. (And it's not about toeing any PC party line, it's just an issue of showing respect for people, that's all.)

LOL, there was a time at Disney where an idea like that would have someone laughed right out the front door. But nowadays, it'd go straight to WDI for feasibility testing. Unfortunately, it will probably turn into Woody's Lincoln Log cabin well before it turns back into the burning cabin that it should be.

As for the Johnny Appleseed thing, I honestly wouldn't have minded that so much. If they did think they needed to make it PC, Johnny Appleseed would've been down the right path...not a better change than what was there before, but a better change than simply removing the settler and burning aspect. I really love the Mary Blair-inspired cartoon of Johnny Appleseed. I think planting a bunch of apple trees and having Johnny laying beside the cabin would be a wonderful addition. But with the Disney Channel playing non-Disney related shows day and night, it's doubtful kids today would have even seen the Johnny Appleseed animation, let alone know who he was.

And by the way folks, just because kids don't know some character from Disney from the 1950's and 60's doesn't mean Disney shouldn't reference it. It simply means they need to turn off all that pre-teen stuff on the Disney Channel, or at least put aside a couple hours a day for classic content, and start introducing kids to the animations that made Disney the company it is today. I guarantee that kids today would eat it up just like every other generation did for 40 years.

I should start practicing calling the football team in Washington, D.C. the Washington Native Americans.

Maybe 500 years ago the Indians were being taken advantage of, but any non-Nevada resident that's been to a local casino in the past 5 years can tell you who's being taken advantage of these days, lol. Personally, I am happy to see the Indians doing so well with the casinos. Redskin just isn't the same word it was 100 years ago though...these people have major power nowadays, they aren't being dumped on like they were for so many centuries.

Wait a minute, now that I said Woody's Lincoln Log cabin that means Disney won't do it! They ignored my Squidapus Encounter idea for the subs. They ignored my idea to bulldoze DCA and extend the Haunted Mansion into a 6 hour ride. With luck, they'll ignore this idea!

The Cabin was shut down due to cost.

I really like that Johnny Appleseed idea, could have been an American legends thing, narrated by Mark Twain.
