    More Disneyland Trivia........

In pre 1983 Fantasyland area, there were how many fast food locations and what were their names?? I am talking about the 70's era and very early 80's.

Hmmm. I'll take a stab at it. All I remember is the Welch's Juice place and Captain Hook's (Chicken of the Sea) Pirate Ship.

    Re: More Disneyland Trivia........

    Sorry, was being silly.

Was one of them The Pirate Ship Restaurant (also known as Captain Hook's Pirate Ship and as the Chicken of the Sea Restaurant). According to Yesterland, it was a Disneyland landmark from 1955 until 1982....Oh, Big Thunder already guessed this...Could still be right!

Would that make the other one Skull Rock?

Either that, or I'm back to naming them Fred and Margaret. They are such nice names.

Seven! Three-hundred and twelve! Forty-two! The answer is always forty-two, isn't it?

I don't know... I refuse to acknowledge any period of Disneyland food history that doesn't include Conestoga Fries. May this golden (arches) renaissance never end!

In addition to Capt'n Hooks Pirate Ship Restaurant (or "Chicken of the Sea" at one time) there were two sorta round canopied carousal-type fast food stands (mainly hamburgers...or "Nottinghamburgers" as they were known). One was about where the Fantasyland hat store is now, and the other was back at the then dead-end where Big Thunder Trail starts off now.

But I don't recall their actual names.

Opus1guy pretty much has it right. My 1973 guide book lists Welch's Grape Juice Bar, Captain Hooks Pirate Ship, and 2 character food stands. one approximately at the location of the current Mad Hatter, and the other one about where Village Hause is currently.

The book doesn't list names beyond "Character Food Stands" but I seem to recall one being something to do with Robin Hood (hence the nottinghamburgers) but that was about the extent of thier names.

There was also the Castle Candy Shop, but it is not really a food stand.

Those were the 2 I was giving the questions about. They were called Fan 1 and Fan2. One was by what now is the entrance to Big Thunder trail and the other was located where the Mad Hatter hat shop is. I had some friends that used to work there and they costumes were pretty ugly.

I wish they had that candy shop back as well as the old magic shop was near Peter Pan's flight attraction.

    Yes, yes, yes!!! That's it!

As I read that I instantly said to myself, "You idiot! You knew that!"

    I hate getting old.

I deliberately left out Welsh's because they mainly only sold juice and ice cream bars. It did have the most wonderful Fantasia/Bacchus murals on the walls hand painted there by Disney Animation and Imagineering Legend, Bill Justice. Wish I could have gotten my hands on those before they were torn down and trashed!

I did too. I was eating at Fan 1 one day and chatted up my order taker a bit...a hot little...I mean...a charming young lady......and when I got my meal to my table, there was a note with her phone number in the tray-box! We became friends later that same night!
