News: Disney fanatics vow to visit EVERY Disney park...

    http://www.gainesville.com/apps/pbcs.../APN/609251805

    Quote:

The group was in Hong Kong on the second leg of their Disney-themed round-the-world tour, realizing months of planning for a 32-day trip that takes them to every Disney park in the world - from Tokyo to Hong Kong to Paris, to the U.S. flagships, Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif., and Walt Disney World near Orlando, Fla.

It was a dream come true for the "Down Under Disneyana" fan club members, who have all been to one or more Disney parks before but have never done them all at one go. The idea of a world tour was especially appealing for Australian fans because they live so far away from all the Disney parks, Simpson said.

"We can't go to Disneyland every week. We can only go once every year, and that's if we're lucky," said Simpson, 36, a fraud investigator for a bank. The nearest park - Hong Kong - is more than eight hours' flight away.

The fans also organized the trip so that it coincided with several important dates for Disney. The group was in Hong Kong for the first anniversary celebrations at Disney's newest theme park on Sept. 12. They planned to finish on Sept. 30, the last day of 50th anniversary festivities at the original Disneyland in Anaheim.

Much much more, including the cost of all this, at the link above. It's a good read.

Kinda sad that they will be missing most of the 50th stuff ... but they'll be there to kick off halloweentime, which is almost as cool!

    Wow i wish.
    Good morning, son
    In twenty years from now
Maybe we'll both sit down and have a few beers
And I can tell you 'bout today
And how I picked you up and everything changed
    It was pain
    Sunny days and rain
I knew you'd feel the same things...

Down Under Disney fans and I missed this?

If I had the time/money, I'd do this in a heatbeat. Mind you, I'm having enough trouble convincing my girlfriend that yes, we need to go to Disneyland again on the next trip and yes, we need to spend 8 or 9 nights in WDW.

I will see all 5 eventually (3 by 2008), but I think even for me, that is too much Disneyland in one hit. It's like having a large coke, a packet of M & Ms, a chocolate mud cake and a short stack of pancakes with syrup three meals a day for five weeks. Yeah, it's going to taste good, but it may take its toll and turn you off the lot eventually.

Re: News: Disney fanatics vow to visit EVERY Disney park...

Hate to sound boastful...but I hit every Disney park at least once a year. Sometimes I'm traveling specifically to visit the parks...and other times it just so happens that I'm traveling to the countries of their locations on other business, and I usually make the effort to squeeze some time in for a trip to the local Disney-lands while I'm there.

This year is going to be difficult to round all the bases however. I've been stuck here in Houston, Texas on a project for 3 months now and will be heading back home to California mid-October. Leaving me only November and December to get to Paris...which is the only Disney location I haven't hit yet this year. It might be tough to squeeze that in by year's end. Might have to do a very quick 3 day weekend "1 day over, 1 day parks, 1 day back" thing to keep my "streak" going. Or just say, "The heck with it" and call it a year.

My problem is that if I stay any longer than 1 day...then my honey will want to come along to shop and dine in Paris a few days...and then we're talking about some serious cash! So the quick "turnaround" strategy may be my best bet.

Unless she somehow reads this thread and my strategy is exposed!
