Re: What do you think are some of the best and worst jobs at DLR?

A friend of mine was a Storybook "hostess", or whatever they were called. She said it was the most boring job and she was jealous of her brother who was a sweeper in custodial, because he got to walk around and talk to the guests all day. Apparently sitting on top of that boat wearing knee socks will give you quite an interesting tan, too. She can still snap into "tour voice" and do the whole spiel, along with narrate just about anything. Very funny!

It's funny because here at the MK, the horse cleaning shifts are the most popular. Mainly because you get to watch the parade and the cleanup is simple.

Re: What do you think are some of the best and worst jobs at DLR?

    Worst:
City Hall CM: for reasons stated above
Space Mountain CM: spending your days in a VERY noisy, fast-paced dungeon
    Indy CM: same
HISTA or Golden Dreams CM: so lonely!
Paradise Pier Midway Games CM: so lonely and embarassing!
Chef: Day after day preparing lousy, overpriced food.
The person who stitches names on mouse ears: "Hey, that looks awful!

    Best:

Main St. Vehicle Driver: Relaxing and fun!
Driving Uncle Walt's Firetruck: The dream Disneyland job!
Blue Bayou/Club 33 waiter/waitress: dealing with upscale guests. Good tips.
DLRR Engineer: OK, it's hot... but you're driving a real steam train!
Monorail Pilot: You get to honk that marvelous horn!
Submarine Pilot: Applications now being accepted.
The guy/gal who shoots the fireworks: Making things go BOOM! is fun.
"Yesterday, a man walked up to me and said, 'Isn't it a shame that Walt Disney couldn't be here to see this?' and I said, "He did see this, that's why it's here."

One of the jobs I think would rock is playing Crush on 'Turtle Talk with Crush' since it's probably the only purely voice acting role in the in-park entertainment department.

JungleCruiseGal and I randomly fall into Crush Lingo when we're bored and need a good laugh. Mucho fun.

The best and worst job would be the President of Disneyland. You would have the job everyone wants but no authority to make any changes without permission !!

I always feel bad for the people who stand at the first corner of the parking lot and just wave their hands to the right. Boring, and what's worse is they never even enter the park. If I work at Disneyland, I at least want to be IN Disneyland.

Re: What do you think are some of the best and worst jobs at DLR?

Worst: Ride operator. Standing there all day saying, "Get out of the boat, get in the boat, have fun. Get out of the boat, get in the boat, have fun. Get out of the boat, get in the boat, have fun." It would drive me nuts!

Best: Janitor. I worked as a janitor when the park was closed (midnight to 8 am) Some of it was gross (bathrooms and kitchen floors) But I was in a different part of the park most nights. I have worked everywhere from outside the main gates (before DCA days) to the backlots behind Toontown. From Critter Country to Tomorrowland and everywhere in between. I've seen lots of backstage areas.

I've watched sunrise from the top of the matterhorn. I've stood above the gate tunnel of the castle and looked down Main St. I've driven all of the Main St vehicles (except not the horse drawn ones). Of course, I had to clean them too. Lots of brass to polish. I've walked the Peoplemover Track (when there was a people mover) I think I have been backstage of nearly every ride.

Sunrise in the park is a very magical time. I loved it then. In the off season, I rarely saw guests. Even in the summer, there were guess only around until 1 am or so. So, I had some interaction with the guess but not enough to get sick of them and their questions. Just enough interaction that I really did enjoy it when it happened.

Being a janitor during the night shift was pretty cool.

Worst: working at DCA, so close to Disneyland, but so far away!

Best: Anything to do with the horses. (Of course that is what I'm going to do when I retire) I clean stalls everyday now, why not do it at Disneyland.

I do not know if Imagineer would be the best since they are going to lay a bunch off in the next coming months. I do not think I would be one of the hundreds.

Wow, that is priceless. Lucky! I hear that the quiet time in the mornings is the best part of working in the park.

I know Parking Lot Tram used to be considered one of the worst jobs. Not sure if it's still as bad with the multilevel garge now there. Tomorrowland's Churro Cart o' Vomit would be bad, too.

I'd take Club 33 for best, myself, but Matterhorn Climber is another good one, because if you actually GET that job, then you know mountain climbing already and that cliffside is probably a piece of cake. Especially after you do it a few.

Having worked in retail for years, theres no way Id want to work at the emporium. Ive seen how busy that place gets. Theres lots of things to break there, and loads of little kids ready to touch every little thing.
