What do you think are some of the best and worst jobs at DLR?

LOL....I was waiting to see when something from Stores would pop up on this list, good or bad.

Didn't think it would take this far though.

The Emporium is the WORST example of a store to be in, by choice that is.
It's just too, too crowded! Full of people that don't know how to shop early in the day and leave their stuff in the lockers or at Newsstand. Lazy guests that never put things back where they belong. It just gets more and more wal-mart like. Not necessarily from the CMs but from the guests themselves.

Take it from me, I have a day-to-day personal experience with the store.

A much more fun shop would be the ones in New Olreans square or Adventure land. They're off earlier and nobody gives a damn about shopping late at night there since they know the Emporium is still open after them.

I am posting this as a totally niave person, who is a total disney "freak" living somewhere around about the UK (a small island really, lots of sheep!!)
I quite fancy the job of:

Disney window dresser.
Flourescent wand waver as parades finish!!!!!

But my dream job after visiting this year is to operate the remote controlled trash can!!!!!!

Wow!! My family thought the sun had got to me but I did manage to get a tiny bit of footage, to prove my sanity!!!

My thoughts as to the worst job would be:

Poo shoveller!!
Bag Security checks
Any job where you had to sit in a booth all day!!

Other than that I think I would do most things. But this is a post obviously viewed through rose tinted glasses!!!

Put me behind the horses any day, but there's no way I would be one of those poor souls that cleans the restrooms. It seems like all they do is go from stall to stall and clean for hours!

My friend used to work in custodial and he had to clean the horse poo, clean the restrooms, pick up trash, and clean up vomit, urine, and poo in random locations in the park. On top of that, they also call custodial to help do crowd control for fireworks and parades! The grossest part is that at the end of night they have to sort through the piles of trash!! They dump it out onto these tables and sort through it all! GROSS!!

They definitely get my vote but my friend had a great time working there so.....

Having worked in retail for years, theres no way Id want to work at the emporium. Ive seen how busy that place gets. Theres lots of things to break there, and loads of little kids ready to touch every little thing.

I quite agree. Little kids will grab everything at eye level. At least that's what happens at my work. Anyways it's always so busy there that keeping an eye out for theft would be pretty hard as well, even though I'm sure they have undercover security guards there.

The best job, IMHO, is Security. Granted, as a former Security CM I speak with bias, but also expierence. To begin with, Security and Fire have a different Union, and from what I saw, our union was a lot better and than everyone elses'. We got paid more. Everyday was different. You might work a boring shift at Harbor Point, or Ball Gate, but that's okay, because then you might be working the Hotel, or the Parking Lot (aka Miami Vice shift due to all the drugs and alcohol at those two areas). When you work in the park its a blast as well. If you work during park operating hours, its cool because things are always happening (granted, its mostly lost children). The night shift is just as awesome because then you can drive a vehicle in the park (how many can say they've done that?), walk through the rides, or if you're lucky the maintence guys will have you test out a ride.
Not to mention the other oppertunities that arise once you've been there long enough. You can volunteer to do dispatch (aka Comm), bicycle units, or PCOs (Plain Clothes Officers). Back in the days when Disneyland had the parking lot, they had guards on horseback (can't remember what its called).

I had more expierences during my eight months there than I have had in my entire life. The military is boring compared to what I came across at Disneyland.

I'm not one that wants to work at DL, because I'd rather want to go to DL when I work, not have to go while I work. But I specifically would not want to work a fastpass merge. The most appealing job would be monorail operator with Mark Twain Pilot being next. Both get to travel around, and provide the option of guest interaction. Steam Train is too hot. Monorail has AC. I guess If you were alone on the MT on a hot day no one could see you from the waist down, though.

The boy would definitely want to climb the Horn.
