Talking Re: Kinda Lame Question....But What the Heck???

I have a friend who used to work in Tomorrowland - when Tomorrowland worked. Anyway, park closed at midnight, but she told my buddy and I to wait for her underneath the Rocket Rods track. Well, we waited until 12:57 and a security officer asked us why we were still there. We told him we were waiting for our Cast Member friend, and he said we'd have to wait outside the front gates....but we were lucky, because just then, she came running out to meet up with us.

I don't know why we were waiting.....I think I might have been driving her home that night or something.

On my friend's last night as a Disney CM a few of us came into the park and stayed for his last boat on the Jungle Cruise. We were there until like 12:30 and then just walked out and no one said anything to us.

Re: Kinda Lame Question....But What the Heck???

At closing, security used to start way back in the far "corners" of DL (like in Critter Country, Toontown, TM) Then they would walk forward "herding" the guests before them. They wouldn't really push, but they wouldn't allow guess past them back into "cleared areas". Security would check the rest rooms as they cleared the area. If guesses were still on a ride, they would stop at the ride's exit and wait for the guess to leave then continue forward. Then they would met up at the hub or top of Main St.

When the park used to be open until 1 am, we janitors would work in the backsatge areas until the area we were to work in has been cleared by security. The summer I worked in Small World, so we would clean the boats that were backstage in boat storeage until all of the guesses left the ride, Then we could turn on the inside worklights and start cleaning the boats inside.

I remember when I was hoser, we would park our scooters just backstage behind the large gates between FL and BTRR trail. Once that area was cleared far enough that the guesses couldn't see, we would open the gates. But we had to stay far enough behind security that the guess couldn't see us.

That parade only started when THIS dude refused to leave. I believe it was August 6, 1970.

I remember once when my girlfriend and I got front of the line passes for Splash Mountain after it broke down. We made it to the ride about 3 minutes before the park closed and made it on. When we got off, there were no guests, just security roaming around and watching us walk away. It was a little unnerving, but whatever, got the last ride on Splash.

Re: Kinda Lame Question....But What the Heck???

Last Oct. on our last night in the park my friend and I wanted some night shots of the castle. The park had closed a few minutes earlier and we heard the announcement but we were so close to main street in the HUB that lots of people were around.

We ended up even laying down on the drawbridge and on the ground in front of the castle to try and get some fun shots. Eventually the people from Fantasyland stopped coming and a security gaurd waited out of frame for us to take a few more shots with nobody around.

It was an unspoken understanding that it was time to go. I doubt they get a lot of trouble from people though really. Of course we had to stop on the way out at the front though and take more pictures with nobody around.

Here's one picture from the front after hours.

Oh, and this wasn't a lame question.

My family was kindly escorted out, only to find that our car was the only one left in the parking lot (Pre-DCA).

Re: Kinda Lame Question....But What the Heck???

My friends and I were the last ones out of the park one night about four or five years back. My friend who was really tired decided to sit on the benches for us while we went down the stores on main st before the stores closed, they were doing the park is closed but stores are open for one more hour thing. well we came out at like one and she was no longer on the bench and couldnt find her anywhere, so we went to city hall and explained the situation, so they sent some secuity guards all over the park for her while we waited. By the time the security confirmed she was not there, it was like one thirty in the morning and they had already closed the gates of the park! so i was officailly in the park when they closed the gates for the night! so since the tram wasn't running anymore the security guard took us to the timon parking lot in his van which was kind of cool. It was kind of scary though seeing our car was the only one left and it was foggy out and we were hoping our friend was there, which she was not! a few minutes later we found her wondering the parking lot and asked her why she was wondering about and said she couldn't find the car, but our car was the only one around, so i wonder what she was really doing. but i thought that was one exciting way to end out trip to disneyland.

Yep. They are minor celebrities from the CM standpoint. Very nice and obey all of the rules.

As for high tech surveilance shooing out everyone? They have security that know their jobs and the hiding spots in hte park. then remember, from the business side of things- the park never closes. Any teen hiding, would have to stay hidden during the time of an army of 3rd shift CMs take over the park readying it for the next day. In short, you can't hide in DL after close, you will be found.
Security just slowly moves people to exit but just being there and making the guest feel mildly akward. It doesn't take much more than that really after all the rides and stores shutdown.

I managed to hide out in Fantasyland until 11pm when the park closed at 10. I wasn't even really hiding I was sitting in the display Dumbo with some friends and we were escorted out lmao.

Hypothetically, couldn't you wear white pants and a white shirt and just kind of hang out next to one of those maintenance gates at closing time, then just start emptying trash cans? I bet you could make it til at LEAST 3 a.m. before anyone noticed you had no business being there. :

Well if you are willing to empty trash cans for free, maybe that wouldn't mind.

What about TSI? Is it possible to stay there after they close it down? I seem to remember a story about two brothers who stayed there to watch the fireworks years ago and then tried to swim back since it was closed and no rafts were running, one of them dying.
