In POTC,In the first half of the caves after the very first drop, It smells really good in there, cant put my finger on what the smell reminds me of but Im guessing its cedar.The scent technology being used on attractions is a really awesome thing, unless of course this scent in particular wasnt done on purpose? Does anyone know?

It smells kinda like Indy which, for some reason, always smells like fruit to me (specifically musty peaches). I'm wierd, aren't I?

The scent you're referring to is mostly hydraulic fluid. Go by any device that has hydraulics somewhere else and you'll smell it. What makes it more distinct is the hydraulics mixed with chlorine and water vapour in the air.
In Indy's case, there's lots of sulpher, such as for the smoke and fire effects. Indy doesn't use the "water-fog" that the other rides/fantasmic use, to make it more lasting and to better last in the warm conditions of the ride.

Yeah I always think of pirates being a fog fluid scent, but maybe its just because i spend so much time in fake fog that i realize the similarities

Alot of haze fluid is simply mineral oil... which makes me laugh when people complain they can't breathe when we run it during concerts

That smell is the greatest, they could can it and I'd spray my room down with it. Anything to make me feel like I'm on Pirates.

I recently discovered a scent at work that instantly takes me back to Pirates. I work in television where our control room always has to have air conditioning on. The unit we have is a big wall unit (like what you put in your windows) and it's old!! With the change in temperature here in Chicago, some of the stagnant run-off water on the coils gets a musty smell to it. When the unit kicks on, that smell is forced out for about 15 seconds. It smells just like a Disney water ride and is surprisingly pleasant.

Tonight I just happened to be browsing some of the trip reports on MiceChat when it kicked on. Needless to say, the combination made me think I'll be planning my return trip very soon!

Drop by Uva Bar in Downtown Disney sometime. Sit at the bar on the west side. When they open the glass washing machine, the fragrance is pure POTC!

its the same smell i smell in vegas, the watery, smoky smell, the fog most definatly

I absolutely adore that scent! Every time I smell that smell, it makes me think of being on vacation. I'm going to go right over to Illuminations and buy me some Hydraulic Fluid and Chlorine scented candles!

I used to love the smell in POTC. Now, post update, it just smells like Home Depot to me.
