Circarama was kind of taken aback when we said our ridiculously long team name (We Stop for Disney Survey Markers!). Several people asked us about our team name, so I will explain.
Disney survey markers have been in the parks for a while and people have noticed them occasionally. Survey markers (also sometimes known as benchmarks) are placed in the ground by surveyors to mark precise reference points. They are used to align and position roads, buildings, and other things during construction.
A couple years ago, Patty Winter started a webpage to record the locations of all the Disney survey markers. This started a mini-hobby that is kind of like looking for Hidden Mickeys. I also made some supplementary webpages with maps and other stuff. Here is what the disks in Anaheim look like:
Disneyland and California Adventure have been searched thoroughly, except for the backstage areas. I even searched the Big Thunder Ranch event area during the MiceChat Dessert Party. But if you find one that we don't know about, we'd love to hear about it! There are still many more waiting to be found in Florida and Hong Kong.
