Question about California Screamin' at DCA

I will be going to DLR the 9th and the 10th. I got a question about California Screamin' at DCA. What does the loop feel like going upside down? Is it safe to go on with a hurt back that hurts off and on? Everyone been telling me to go on it, but I have always been scaried of it.

You know the feeling when you go down hill on a roller coaster and then pull up at the bottom? Pressed into the bottom and back of your seat? That's pretty much what a loop feels like except you are pressed into your seat and back for longer.

As for going on it with a bad back... that's totally up to you. Matterhorn can be a lot more jarring than Screamin depending on the day. Sometimes even Thunder Mountain throws me more than Screamin. I guess hold time, keep your body back in the seat and you should be ok (depending on what kinds of things your back can take).

Our revels now are ended. These our actors, As I foretold you, were all spirits and Are melted into air, into thin air: And, like the baseless fabric of this vision, The cloud-capp'd towers, the gorgeous palaces, The solemn temples, the great globe itself, Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve And, like this insubstantial pageant faded, Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff As dreams are made on, and our little life Is rounded with a sleep. mycroft16 on Twitter

It is one of the smoothest roller coasters that I've been on. As far as the loop it's weightlessness then gravity pulling you down into your seat.

Will trade husband for Disneyland and DCA Pins!

The loop isnt bad even 4 people with back problems. You can feels the G's on your face though. It feels like somebody is putting their hands on your face and pulling your skin down... its so cool. But like BFJen said, one of the smoothest if not the smoothest coasters I have evr been on.

RE: the back thing. I have a herniated disk and I've been on Screamin' with no apparent problems.

Concurs with BFJen! CS is THE smoothest rollercoaster I've ever been on!

Don't take your bad back on IJ or BTM. Those rides will definetly increase the chances of agrivating your back injury.

Re: Question about California Screamin' at DCA

Well, not that I've been on a ton of coasters (just everything at DLR, WDW, DLRP, TDR, and Universal's Islands of Adventure), but I will state that, for one thing, California Screamin' is the smoothest coaster I've ever been on. Especially if you sit in the middle rather than the front or the back.

The loop (pretty much like any loop) actually pushes you down into the seat due to centrepetal force. My back hurts off and on, and while I have felt a bit nauseous after riding CS three times in a row, I've never felt any back pain as a result. However, you really should not rely on my experience as a guide to how your own back will react. (In other words, don't sue me if you ride it and your back hurts afterwards!) How have other coasters affected you?

Glad you posted your question! I agree that CS is really a smooth coaster. No worries.

I can handle alot of different coasters like Ghostrider at Knott's Berry Farm. So I have had no problems riding coaster with my back.

    Thanks for the help guys!

if you can handle Montezooma's Revenge then you'll survive California Screamin'. But the former ride-op in me must remind you that riding coasters with any sort of "injury" can be hazardous to your health, but it's up to you if you ride or not.

Re: Question about California Screamin' at DCA

    ^ that's the spirit!!!

my first "loop" roller coaster was in fact, montezuma's revenge. i was scared of screamin, and it took me about a year to get on it. now, its the one ride i'll go on over and over and over.

the loop is nothing. its over so quick that you're like "huh? did we just go upside do.....oh no! a hill!!!"

    kingdom hearts <3er
