Question Isla De Las Tortugas??? ROA Revamp?

Sorry...but I am full of Armchair Imagineering Ideas....I was told by a CM that works with Disney corporate that there is talk about Rivers of America (ROA) and Fronteir land becoming a little dated. When disneyland was built, the western genre was on everyone's mind...cowboys and indians, etc. Hence Fronteirland and ROA. Well, times have changed, but of course you can't just take that stuff out (and there are no plans to), but what could be done to update it a little bit.

I think with all of the influx of the pirtate craze, they could turn ROA into a priate cove...Like Isla de las Tortugas from the movie...or Port Royale...or something pirate village themed...It would blend in nicely with the rest of fronteirland and NOS...and Tom Sawyers Island could be some pirate something or other (Tom Sawyer is soooooo 100 years ago).

    what do you think?

I agree. Pirates are fun, but it can be over done. The problem with the Rivers of America is that it has lost much of the fun it had originally. NO HOUSE ON FIRE! What needs to happen is more up-to-date effects. Put a little surprise in the trip. Mixing live actors with the setting would spruce up the ride.

Hey, you know what else is overdone? Hidden Mickeys. I mean, the first three were cute and made good conversation starters, but enough already!

Ya see, that's funny, because your name is MickeyMania, and you're talking about too many Mickeys, so I laugh. You may be serious, and I'm not slurring that, it's just a funny thing that I decided to point out.

    I'll be leaving now.

Meh. Pirate overkill. As it is, Tom Sawyer's Island and the Mark Twain work very well together. Classic example of trying to fix something that isn't broken.

Ok...so the fort is broken...and the cabin is no longer on fire...

Hmm... well it would be cool if there were pirates on one side and ninjas on the other....

    heh

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe...

I really think that the pirates fad would be old in a few years. I'm not even sure it would be popular that long. ROA has been around for over 50 years. I think that they could do some reimagineering in the area. Another big e-ticket back there would be great. As long as it isn't Pixar themed. Something new. Something that has no corporate synergy. No movie tie in. Just a brand new experience.
Check out my new Disney Blog here. What it lacks in quality it makes up with... Well, nothing I guess.

Just being thankful that they haven't closed it completely is enough!!

    They need to bring back:

    The Fort
    The Live Actors
    The Burning Cabin
    The Keel Boats

They are taking the imagination out of the attractions not really famous!

    Agree.

When they start having morning "Pilates of the Caribbean" classes along the banks of the Rivers of America...you'll know for sure it's long-past the time to cart away that dead horse.

i think they could bring back an indian village type thing where they have cm dress in character and tell you abut the world and stuff....that would be fun

or they can just bring back all the stuff from when i was a kid in the 90's, that place was awesome for the 10 and under set! i got lost a million times without actually being lost, lol

If they renamed Frontierland and RoA, how would they be able to make movies based on the Golden Horseshoe Review and Mark Twain Steamboat? Not too mention the upcoming blockbuster Big Thunder Mountain: Epitaph Gold.

Re: Isla De Las Tortugas??? ROA Revamp?

Why do lands need to be swept up with one movie franchise? Really, A Bug's Land and now soon enough Paradise Pier will be all Toy Story...let's have some variety, shall we? PotC belongs in New Orleans Square and fits perfectly there...no reason for them to invade Frontierland.

What's already there could be easily improved. What it really needs is some TLC and a new E-ticket.

It's time to create a new Mine Train Thru Nature's Wonderland-type ride. There's all this land left in Frontierland that's going unused...it's just all over the place, and can easily be re-routed again in many of the same old places and new ones too. My idea? Create a new ride like them oldies, but also throw in old western folk tales. Annie Oakley (who was a real person by the way), Bess Call (strongest woman in America who put a city slicker in his place), Pecos Bill (for crying out loud, Disney made animated films on him!), Paul Bunion (as goes the latter), Davy Crockett, Mike Fink...I could go on and on! These stories of our history are dying-even doing a search on google turns up lackluster information for the second female I mentioned. Why not preserve these stories in a new way for current and future generations to appreciate, so that they can be remembered and used to entertain?

Oh yeah. The animatronics could use some TLC on the riverfront.

Burning cabin would be nice, too...no dead settler, though, IMO.
