Frogberto caught a news clip about this a little over a month ago: http://www.micechat.com/forums/showthread.php?t=36740

All we really know is it will have a new rock n' roll soundtrack, and probably different lighting to fit the theme.

Yeah as part of the year of a million dreams and doing the Rockin' Space Mountain layover there were the rumors that screamin would get a layover too.

I totally missed that on the back of the map. Didn't even look at that heh.

Yeah, Wave789 mentioned this to me in another thread I posted. The tagline us supposed to be the reason they changed Rockit Mountain to Rockin' Space Mountain so that all with Rockin' California Screamin' they can say they are Rockin' both parks, a little cheesy if you ask me.

    Rockin' Space Mountain?

    Rockin' Space Mountain?
I agree. The whole "Rock'n both Parks" is lame! We know the
effects for Space Mt. were not that great when they had the
temporary layover for Grad nites. Although I never liked the tune
for California Screamin', I dont' think a "Rockin' Tune" is going to
help at all, and it certainly doesn't work with PP theme. Who
    thought up this insipid idea??

Who knows, maybe with Lasseter around maybe he gave the go ahead to finally let the Imagineers go in and do the other effects that they never got to do? A man can dream can't he? LOL

Yeah thats what I hoped to. I mentioned it on the other thread. I just don't see it happening without a lengthy downtime to install the effects that were cut due to time restraints before.
