    Disneyland in the movies....

I was watching "Jurassic Park" last night and I dont' know why I never noticed this before. But in the scene where John Hammond and Malcolm were in the emergency bunker, Hammond mentions that when Disneyland opened in 1956 (yep, 1956!) everything didn't work. Malcom responded that when POTC breaks down, the pirates don't eat the tourists. Anyway, I found that scene funny!

Any other movies where Disneyland is mentioned?

Tom Hanks' movie THAT THING YOU DO! shows them on the Matterhorn with different colored bobsleds.

There are a few TV shows that make fun of DCA.

I know in the Simpsons, Lisa, Bart and Homer go to a prison to find Sideshow Bob, and claim that the prison less boring than the time they went to California Adventure.

In the LOST Season 2 DVD, one of the producers is asked about one of the theories behind the show and he debunked that the cast would not pop out into Disney's California Adventure.

Those are the only ones I know besides Jurrassic Park.

I That Thing You Do, and am sad that not that many people have seen it...or even know that it exists!

Anyway, as for DL references, there are quite a few Friends episodes where they make comments about Disneyland. I can't recall the lines right off the top of my head, but it's pretty amusing.

Also, in "Uptown Girls", Molly Gun (played by Brittany Murphy) freaks out that her little wardon has never been to Disneyland.

    Re: Disneyland in the movies....

"Forty Pounds Of Trouble" was a blatant early 1960's DL promo film with Susanne Pleshette and Tony Curtis about a child custody battle. As far as I know, this film has never been released onto DVD.

From the back cover of the VHS tape.

Tony Curtis stars in this outrageous comedy in which a day at the park becomes a high speed adventure on the world's most exclusive movie set - Disneyland!

After escaping from his greedy ex-wife in California, savvy Lake Tahoe hotel/casino manager Steve McClusky (Curtis) has had enough of women. But his sabbatical is sabotaged when hotel owner Bernie Friedman (Phil Silvers) orders him to chaperone the venue's new headliner, Friedman's beautiful niece Chris (Suzanne Pleshette).
As if that's not enough, McClusky inherits a pint-sized problem in young Penny (Claire Wilcox), a five-year old recently abandoned by her debt-ridden father. Soon charmed by his two charges, he risks crossing the Nevada border to take them to Disneyland. It's not long before the incognito trio is discovered by his ex's detectives, and a wild chase through the park's attractions begins!

With a superb cast, gorgeous scenery, and the distinction of being the first feature film ever to be shot in (and above) Disneyland, this irresistible romantic comedy is a treat for the whole family!

Not in the movies, but I find it amusing nonetheless.

In Maki Murakami's manga (japanese comic book) Gravitation (which is a beautiful shonen-ai story - shonen-ai is basically boy x boy love story), the main couple Shuichi and Yuki Eiri go on a date to Tokyo Disneyland. Shuichi chanting "Mickey Mouse!" excitedly is the most adorable artwork in the entire series.

"I suppose you have no choice but to revolutionize the world." -Mikage Souji (Revolutionary Girl Utena)

Phoebe, to her psychotically upbeat boyfriend (Alec Baldwin): You're like Santa Claus on Prozac! At Disneyland! Getting laid!

Ross, discussing unusual places the group's made whoopee: Disneyland, 1989, 'It's a Small World After All.'
    The group: No way!
Ross: The ride broke down. So, Carol and I went behind a couple of those mechanical Dutch children... then they fixed the ride, and we were asked never to return to the Magic Kingdom.

The Three Stooges saved Disneyland from space aliens in 1962's "The Three Stooges in Orbit."

Can't believe no one's mentioned 1962's "40 Pounds of Trouble," with Tony Curtis and Suzanne Pleshette. Probably the most Disneyland footage ever in a single movie - and it was made by Universal!

Also the same year (what was it about '62 for Disneyland at the movies?), the Three Stooges saved Disneyland from space aliens in "The Three Stooges in Orbit."
Thanks for the lines! I was thinking of the one that had to do with Ross and Carol, but thanks for the Phoebe one!

And desertdweller mentioned that movie a few posts up.

    Re: Disneyland in the movies....

I'll go for the obvious: THE LION KING.

Scar asks Zazu to sing a song, in which he sings "It's a small world after all..."

    "Oh no, ANYthing but that.."

And in Aladdin, the genie makes references:

"Thank you for choosing "Magic Carpet" for all your travel needs. Don't stand till the rug has come to a complete stop. Thank you. Goodbye, now. Goodbye. Goodbye, thank you. Goodbye." (though you can say that this is more of a flight reference, but can now kinda apply to the parking tram!)

    And...

"Keep your hands and arms inside the carpet! We're outta here!"

    And..

something about winning jasmine, "where are you going to go next?" (disneyland!)

    AAND..

The goofy hat Genie wears at the end.

PHEW! I think that was all of it...

And I don't know if it counts or not, but there are a couple shots during "Creature of the Night" in Rocky Horror Picture Show where Magenta is wearing Mickey Mouse Club ears.

    Re: Disneyland in the movies....

Thanks for pointing out my post Ms. Christine!

Another film comes to mind although I have really hazy memories of it since it wasn't very good.

"Gleaming The Cube" ('89) was a skateboarding film involving the Vietnamese Community that had many scenes shot in LA and OC with Christian Slater in the lead.

My only recollection was the opening shot that shows a hotel room with a body on the bed that you assume is some foreign locale and as the camera dollies back to the room with a view from its window, you see DL's Matterhorn.

A totally forgettable film and someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

    No Prob!

Oh, also, in Hercules when Meg is singing "I Won't Say I'm in Love," the muses are singing in the background and there is a shot of them as busts, with one of them broken off and laying on the ground...doesn't that sound like the singing busts in Haunted Mansion? Or am I stretching it too far.
