What are your favorite "little" details about Disneyland???

I was just typing in another thread about how I love how the mountains look and sound at night...for example, I LOVE how when you walk by the Matterhorn you can hear the people screaming and the snowman roaring and how it is lit up with a kind of blueish purple at night...oh, and the sound of the "wind"...and I love walking down by Big Thunder at night, cuz you can hear all of the cricketts and the critters...and there are flickering lights EVERYWHERE, which I absolutely love! I don't exactly know why but I have always loved the flickering light thing lol...I also love how when you're walking through Adventureland there are torches and jungle sounds everywhere...see, it's things like that that make Disneyland (or Disney Parks for that matter) so different from any other place...What kind of things like that do you like about Disneyland, day or night???

Walking down Main St at night and seeing the castle all lit up really gets me every time.

Floating past the Blue Bayou at the beginning of Pirates always makes me smile, too, when I was a kid I used to think the people eating were animatronics.

there is just something about the lights in tomorrowland at night that i love. i like to watch the mickey move across the top of the building and the autopia screen just has this glow that makes me smile.

hmmm, I unfortunately was one when they changed Bear Country to Critter Country, so I don't remember hehe...but I'm sure I would have loved it too! Is there a picture of that somewhere? I'm curious to see it now...

...Another thing that always makes me incredibly happy is to walk down Main Street, first thing in the morning...I always get in the front of the line (I get there at like 7, an hour before the park opens hehe)...one time, for my 17th Birthday in the Summer of '05, I went 2 days after the 50th Anniversary and I got to "open" the park and say "Let the magic begin!" so I got an honorary guest sticker AND a birthday sticker, and everyone said happy birthday to me all day! It was the best...But anyways, yeah I love to be the first one to walk down Main Street in the morning with NOONE ahead of me...I always hold all of my friends hands and skip haha..

Another thing I love is the howling of the wolf and the little skeletons and treasure in Injun Joe's Cave on TSI...I have always loved that!

Oh absolutely!!!! Sometimes I think I smell something similar to POTC and I get that feeling...it's great...If you think about it, Disneyland has it's own smell...or maybe it's just the atmosphere...I just know that it's like no other place in the world! :0)

ya...i also like the smells in Soarin' Over California.. (but its not in disneyland tho)

Sit at the Uva Bar in Downtown Disney... west end of the bar by the glass-washing machine. When they open the machine after washing a load of glasses... it's pure POTC!

There are so many little things in Disneyland it would be hard to list one. Here's a good one, though:

Get a chair at the bow of the Mark Twain and ride the Rivers Of America after dark.

Also, sounds! Not just the great music, but the mechanical sounds. I work for a lumber company in the PNW. When I hear pressurized air bleed off from an actuator, it sounds just like the release of the bobsleds at the beginning of the Matterhorn! Or when I hear the clanking of a chain going over a sprocket, I think of the ending of POTC and the lift back to the loading area. Very memorable sounds from Disneyland! Thanks Walt!

I love the smells on Indiana Jones and Pirates of the caribbean. Everytime i smell somethign that is similar, i get really happy! Then sad because i realize im not in disneyland

Too many to list also, but here are some favorites at the top of the list:

The first "swoosh" on Peter Pan as the ride takes off. It almost brings me to tears (Realize I am named Wendy after the Disney Peter Pan Wendy!)

Snow in Main Street at Christmas (does bring me to tears)

The caboose on Casey Jr. takes me right back to my childhood, when my sister and I would do anything to get that seat.

The sounds from anywhere in the park. It's part of what I love about VMK.

The smell of fudge reminds me of my grandfather. Every trip we had to bring some Disney fudge home for him.

The windows on Main Street.

Walking through the entrance turnstile- it's the most exciting part of my day! :-)
