What is "A Day at Disneyland"?

I was looking around for Disneyland products today and saw a copy of "A Day at Disneyland" listed. They offered no snyposis of it and said it was 30 minutes long.

Does anyone know anymore about this and can you share the information with us?

I have that video actually. Unless it was changed, which it probably was, it's like a 30 min video of different rides and shops and stuff. On mine, its like a few min of capt hook and shmee on pirates, and like chip and dale in haunted mansion etc. Although considering they still have chip and dales treehouse, and some other out-of-date rides, I'm sure its different now.

    Any more, it's about $500.

Actually, it goes back a long time. Back in the late 50's, they sold an record called, "A Day At Disneyland"...with your host, Jiminy Cricket, and Walt Disney.
In the 60's, they had super 8 movies of "A Day At Disneyland" for your Bell & Howell...or "Kodak" movie projector and were (at least) sold at the Disneyland Hotel gift shops.
So it could be a number of items with that name.

You can see what imdb.com has to say about it at the following link:

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0372856/

"This video taked (sic) viewers on a tour of Disneyland, as they watch their favorite Disney characters experience the many rides, shops, resturaunts, and attractions at Disneyland."

I have this video. It's a nice lookback at Disneyland. It has Captain Hook and Mr. Smee riding PotC, the piano player on Main Street, and cute stuff like that.

I have it. It is out of print. Here is what the back of the clamshell says.
"Bring the magic home. Relive your special day at Disneyland with a kaleidoscope of yesterday, today and tomorrow. It's all here-from turn-of-the-century Main Street, U.S.A., to the newest and dazzling, high tech spectacular Fantasmic!
Toontown- See Mickey and the whole gang in thier wonderfully wacky, cartoon world."
    Running time approx 40 minutes
    MCMXCII

My kids love it and so do I. Bought it many years ago at the Disneyland hotel gift shop. It has the Tiki Room and the Swiss Family Robinson tree house instead of Tarzan's. I think it has the Skyway in it too. It has a good bit of Fantasmic! toward the end too. If you are looking for a cheaper option of a Day at Disneyland, try the Disneyland Fun sing a long the disney has out on dvd now. It's really cute too, just not as many of the rides and some different music than the rides. It's just $9.99 at Toys R Us. Also try the dvds from RU42 on Ebay. The 50th celebration and Fantasmic ones are fantastic. Also got the Aladdin the musical dvd but it is for my little girls for Christmas. I can let you know how it is after she watched it. He has some of the different lands that I plan on getting someday.

I'm sure you can find it on Ebay! I doubt it would sell for $500. Maybe $5.00

Yeah, we're another one that has it. The kids practically wore it out watching it over and over...

We always bring it with us in the truck to watch it on the drive down to the Park. It gets us "in the mood". LOL (like we need a video to do that!) hehe

Re: What is "A Day at Disneyland"?

I know a few of the now ex-Disney folks that worked on this video. It was one of the better Park souvenir videos, IMHO. It's set up basically as a typical day at Disneyland from welcoming to end-of-day announcements by Jack Wagner. Several shots are POV's from a typical Guest's camcorder. Nicely produced with music, character and character voices. It's often referred to as the "White Box" Disneyland souvenir video. There were two versions produced: Pre and Post Fantasmic. The Post Fantasmic version had a gold starburst sticker advertising the fact that Fantasmic was now included. Some production runs had this sticker on the outside cellophane wrapper, while others had the starburst stuck to the box itself under the cellophane. Because cello wrappers were often discarded, it's sometimes impossible to tell which version of a used video tape you are purchasing (unless of course, the one you are looking at is one with the starburst on the box itself).

Many other (and previous) souvenir videos and films were mostly the standard "And here is the Haunted Mansion" type things. This one is more subtle. More of a "Impressions de Disneyland" kinda thing. It's a very good one, IMHO.

I have both editions of "A Day at Disneyland". The one with Fantasmic and the one without. I think the one without Fantasmic also is lacking Toon-Town and may have a longer view of It's a Small World but I would have to go back and watch to be certain.

The Sing Along mentioned in this thread is also a nice treat.

I love all three but sicne they are all on VHS, I rarely watch them anymore.
