Question What happend to the Parades?

Ok from what I remember Disneyland always had parades with the movies they released. Like Aladdin, Lion King and so on. I liked that they did this and I was wondering if anyone else misses them? Also what was your favorite parade based off of a movie?

I think I would have to say Aladdin and Lion king were one of the best they did.

I liked Lion King Celebration the best...It brought many great memories to my family. Disney probably doesnt do these parades anymore because they like to keep parades running for 3-5 years now instead of 1-2 years as in the past.

Lion King Celebration was the best Parade Disneyland ever did. It had everything that a good parade should have. I loved it.

Mulan Parade gets my vote for a parade based on a movie.

Yah that was fun! And I thought the Hercules parade was pretty energetic and fun too.

I think since the box office intake got lower and lower, so did the budget for the parades.

I remember when Disneyland had TWO different parades a day, with 2 showings of each. That definitely helped keep a lot of the crowds occupied. Now with just two showings of the same old tired parade, most people pass it by. I remember when the parade route was PACKED. And I mean PACKED with people to see it.

Back then, parades only lasted two years before it got rotated out and replaced by something new.

The Lion King parade was my favorite. My dad actually shot a commercial for it, and being about 7 years old, I was able to actually go up to the floats and touch them. That was really special.

Yeah, the end of the blockbusters kind of marked the end of the individual movie parades...and now DCA is getting anything remotely new.

I agree, the movies suck, so why bother with a parade? Who wantsan 'Altlantis' parade, or a 'Treasure Planet' parade? Even the Hercules parade was probably pushing it. In fact, that was the second Disney movie my mom didn't want me to see. She could tell, even then, that things were slipping quality-wise.

I got spit on by a "camel" in the Aladin parade. The strength of the preformers in Lion King were very Cirque'ish before Cirque became the phenom it is today.

Without question, it would be The Lion King Celebration!!

And I agree, I miss that Disney doesn't change their parades anymore, except for every 5 years...or so it seems.

Re: What happend to the Parades?

If you look at the floats over the years... I think it gets way to expensive anymore to switch the entire parade every 2 years.. Plus having a Christmas theme parade to run aswell.

Those floats must be very price hungry even to maintain.

Yeah, and the floats for all the parades are built off-site... so it takes even more money to get them that way.
