    Beignets this Sunday

Retlaw and I will be enjoying beignets at the Jazz Kitchen in DTD around 10 am on Sunday the 15th. If any of you Micechatters are nearby, stop by and say hello.

Is the Cafe au Lait there authentic?

Make sure you wear black pants!
My fondest memory of Walt Disney was the day Disneyland opened....I was standing next to him - I was 12 years old - he was looking at the gate where people were coming through, he had his hands behind his back, he had a grin from ear to ear, but you could see the lump in his throat and the tear coming down his cheek because his dream had been realized. -- Mouseketeer Sharon Baird, "Mouseke-Memories", Walt Disney Treasures: The Mickey Mouse Club

That's like coffee with a hamburger. Not unheard-of, but weird.

True...I've never been a huge fan of coffee (but I LOVE white chocolate mochas)..actually I really prefer a beignet and a dr. pepper but I'm trying to stick to diet soda

Mrs. GG and I love the beignets at the Jazz Kitchen, but their coffee is the absolute worst we've ever tasted. How you can take coffee grounds and water and come up with that "sludge" is beyond me. Obviously, those who make the coffee don't drink coffee.

Fun thing to do on a Friday night...beignets and beverage by the fireplace in the Grand Californian Hotel lobby.

Looking forward to tasting the beignets at WDW's Port Orleans French Quarter resort this July!!!

Do they have Crescent City Beignets stores in SoCal yet? http://www.crescentcitybeignets.com/ (Ah ha, yes, they do, at the Tustin Marketplace! Folks, they have this chain in Houston, and TRUST ME - their Cafe au Lait is truly AUTHENTIC, with chicory, 100% New Orleans style. So if you don't like the coffee at Jazz Kitchen, at least you have an authentic place in Tustin!)

I have a friend who likes to dip Turkey Sandwitches in Diet Cola... Something about the effervescence going well with the briary nature of the Turkey and the starch of the bread...

    Whatever...

Zowie! Now *That's* weird.... On the other hand, I've had chicken cooked in Cola
and it wasn't that bad (it was salty!)... so maybe this could work.

Hmmm... those beignets do look good, though!

New Orleans Square would be even better if a stand sponsered by Cafe Du Monde would be open somewhere. When I went to New Orleans, everybody basically said that's the place to go for Beignets and Coffee. I think it would fit right in.

I love the beignets at the Jazz Kitchen! Actually, I love everything there... the food is amazing. The shrimp Po'Boy is awesome. Mmmm. I haven't had dinner yet.

I don't think the coffee is that bad... I've been to the Cafe DuMonde in New Orleans, and that coffee is great too, but also "unique." The "chickory" coffee/hot milk in the cafe au'lait doesn't taste like a lot of traditional coffee from places like Starbucks. Some people may not like it. But it sure goes good with beignets!

    Stuid question, I know.....What is a beignet?
Mom, remember, it's not what a person is like on the outside that counts,
it's what they are like in their HEART!

It's a kind of pastry- French I believe? It is super delicious- very light, covered in powdered sugar.
