Question Should Indiana Jones Be Running if the Boulder Doesn't Work?

My recent trip to DL has left me wondering whether Indiana Jones should be running in its current state. Of the dozen times I went on Indy only once was the boulder effect working correctly. Either the boulder would roll but the room wouldn't move, the room would move or the boulder wouldn't roll or neither effect would work. This pretty much destroys the climax of the attraction and looks strange when Indy shouts at something that isn't there. Even stranger when the boulder "floats" down the chamber rather than rolls.

So I ask the question, should this ride be kept running when its key effect it not working?

I'd have to say no. Shut it down for a while and repair it rather than weaken the experience.

Indy's in need of an overhaul, big time. I have been riding it since '02, and have never once seen the rat effect. The overhead scrim effect (with the skeleton warrior) hasn't been working for the past year or two, either.

Ive never been on it when the boulder isnt working, but theres been many many times when Ive been on other things that seem to be "off". say, when you come to a screaming halt before you go into the hall with the skeleton warriors that shoot air....over half the times ive been on it, id say we stop almost 1/4 of the way into the hallway.

I've seen the rat effect, but only the first year it was working. I also saw the ice machine effect too, but again only the first year.

I'm also disappointed that the dart room's special effects aren't as strong as they were a couple of years ago. Makes it less scary.

It should still run just for the fact that it will suck up alot of the crowds. The fact that things don't work sometimes just sucks.

Last month when I rode it, the first Indy AA holding back the door wasn't working at all. He was just slumped over and you could see the big bar that holds him up in the back. The voice was still going but he wasn't moving. Strange.

I've been on the ride twice when the boulder wasn't boulding. It definitely ruined those rides for me but since I've been on it before, it wasn't a deal breaker. But had it been my first trip... I wouldn't want it to be like that at all.

Re: Should Indiana Jones Be Running if the Boulder Doesn't Work?

Yesterday, I was on Indy and there was a long pause before the rock moved. The reason is that there was a backup of vehicles going to the load station. The rock could not send us forward because there was a vehicle waiting below.

The reason for the back-up was loading was only using one side of the station. That slowed down loading, but did not change the normal length of the ride. That means that vehilces sped through the ride only to wait at the last four sections.

BTW, everything else seemed to be running on the ride including the doors and the rats.

I read this and somehow thought that the giant boulder was associated with the ON / OFF switch!

In a perfect world I'd say so, but with the amount of issues the ride has been having and it's constant breakdowns, I'd say in the end it's better that guests get to ride the attraction.

The ride just needs a serious overhaul of TLC.

Wow, I wasn't even aware the rats worked at all anymore. Now I'm depressed.

I'm going to sound ridiculous but could someone please describe the rat effect?

A couple weeks earlier he had been complaining of chest pains.

Evidently if you are stalled in after the boulder part where Indy is waiting for you long enough, he gets impatient and starts looking at his watch.

It's just like the Davey Jones effect on PotC. There is a fog machine and a projecter behind the fog that shows the image as you go right under it. I have seen the boulder not working and yes the ride does need some TLC. Until then I don't think it's that big of a deal if it doesn't work until they refurb the ride.
